Insulation two grand

So I'm planning on spending part of my tax refund to put insulation in the attic. Just the upper attic (it's a two story house), as the lower attic is fine and the first story doesn't have temperature issues. But the second story gets HOT in the summer, and the insulation in the upper attic is not adequate.
A couple of years ago, I had gone to the local (not chain) hardware store, and the owner had told me you could either buy rolls of insulation or buy the stuff you spray in and rent the sprayer. So Tony and I went to Lowe's a few days ago to check out prices. The spray in stuff was somewhere between $200 and $250.
So then it was a matter of deciding whether to do it ourselves (which means Tony and the boys) or pay someone to do it. So I got recommendations for people and started calling. So far I have one estimate back. For that $200 - $250 of material, if I don't do it, almost $2000, so over $1700 in labor. Ouch.
So I call my ex's brother who's a contractor. First thing, he starts off about windows and how much better windows can help, so I say thanks but we have double pane windows. So then he goes on about the insulation, and says yeah $2000 is not outrageous, but it's high, so shop around. Then goes into why the roll insulation is better (you can roll it up and get underneath it to do electrical and other work if you need to). But it's more expensive for materials, maybe $800, and takes a little longer to install.
So I haven't talked to Tony yet, but I think I'm back to doing it ourselves. I also need to have some tree work done, and I'd like to have some money left over. But regardless how we're doing it, we're doing it. I don't plan on sweltering again this summer, and I also need to get my AC costs down.
Well, that's my life. How's yours?

I have been living only in the first floor so even if I know that the second floor´s insulation is not perfect, I won´t do anithing against it.
Besides that, I am bored. Bored and terrified and lonely. JEEEZZZ!!! When is this going to end!

@dawnald In my country, when vaccination started, the authorities began to give permits to everything. Stupid. So the cases went up in spite of the vaccines.

Wow those are all expensive.
good thing you got a second opinion though.
It's really costly to have someone do it for you, but unless you know how to do it yourself, best let others do it.
We usually ask around from many relatives and friends and compare prices too.

I try to do all work myself. That is a lot cheaper that way. I painted the whole side of my house. That was a lot cheaper that way.
