What do I Wonder about most?

Like everyone else, I have been wondering about our existence. Birth and death just occur but the intricacies, their significance, baffle me. What are we here for? Is it just to continue our species, a medium towards that end? Then gone and the uncertainty beyond that keep us on tenterhooks. Everyone wants to go to heaven but none volunteer, take the lead. This is obviously due to the fear of the unknown. But then if all the cards are revealed then the game of life is over! Let the spirit of inquiry be sustained and let it keep us on the edge. We may be sitting still but at the same time we are on a ride at breakneck speed though we hardly feel any impact. The figures are beyond our comprehension: 1. The earth rotates in its axis at the rate of one revolution per day. 2. Earth orbits the Sun at an average speed of 67,000 mph, or 18.5 miles a second. 3. The Sun, Earth, and the entire solar system also are in motion, orbiting the center of the Milky Way at a blazing 140 miles a second. 4. The Milky Way itself is moving through the vastness of intergalactic space. 5. Our galaxy belongs to a cluster of nearby galaxies and the whole lot is hurtling at a truly astonishing 375 miles a second toward the Virgo Cluster, an enormous collection of galaxies some 45 million light-years away. Where indeed are we headed for? And who is guiding us? And then we come across a few who think they are the masters of all they survey! Have you any clue about our destination? Will we ever know? We will never know Shiva, no point worrying about it

I know your thinking Jabo. Maybe, we are too insignificant to know. However, something prompts me to think of such,

If we are all heading somewhere, it would point to the idea that we all came from somewhere also. Who pushed us off of our past somewhere, and propelled us on this journey? God? How fast can God move, then, infinity miles a second, maybe? The possibilities are enormous, and for us, I guess it is a privilege for us, to be able to have a sticky eye open, somewhere in the middle? of this process too.

Thanks Steve, that we are part of this journey by itself is a blessing. Let us soak up the sights and sounds and, maybe, board another "contraption" hereafter. We need to keep open all our senses with a deep awareness of inner knowing, being, to have a fulfilling time though we get lost in the mundane physical existence here, a myopic take centering on the self. I think God is everywhere and so his existence is one of a kind. .

@Shiva49 Yes, I just get lost in the enormity of it all. How could I make a difference in all of that, and yet every part of it all, plays their own vital part too. Nothing could go missing; otherwise, it would not all seamlessly still work.

@innertalks Yes, the whole "outfit" is beyond our wildest imagination and it keeps growing and growing. In our own way, we can take care not to upset the apple cart, take care of the breakables that we handle! Again, where is our next outing going to be, and will our awareness, senses give us another overview? We can as well be given a totally new universe with nothing of the vestiges of the past.

These are things I ponder all day and night if I am not sleeping. No answers except that I believe God is the master.

@Shiva49 Yes I never wonder about our role at all or my purpose. I believe we were created as Gods children. I also lay in bed at night and feel the spirits of those who have gone before us. Rest in peace.

Yes, there is a power behind it all - that is awe-inspiring. Then who are we really and our role in it?

@RebeccasFarm Yes Ocean Tiara, I had been quite close to a few who are no more apart from my own parents. I can feel their presence, promptings, guiding hand, many a time. It is like they are from the seen world to the unseen but still close to me.

I wonder about those things, too, but there is no easy answer.

Who are we and is there a greater purpose? This assails me when I think about my existence.

Yes, that keeps us in awe even as we go through a mundane life here with each day repeated mostly except for some hiccups from time to time. I don't know whether we made the choice to come here and we like to stay here too mainly due to the fact the hereafter, if any, is unknown.
