Day 233 Promise 699 1 Peter 5:4 And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fades not away. Some things in life are priceless. When you receive them, you know you’ve gained something valuable that can’t be traded for trinkets, but is cherished and held in high esteem. Peter told the people they would receive a crown of glory when Jesus, their Chief Shepherd would appear. A crown that would never tarnish, but would become more valuable as they grew in the knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. As Christians, you will receive a crown of glory for your faithful work in tending God’s flock. As ministers of the gospel of Jesus Christ, it is your duty not to lead your flock astray, but to keep them on the narrow path leading to eternal life. Tending the flock of Jesus Christ was important to Peter and should be important to you. After Jesus’ resurrection, He told Peter to feed and take care of His sheep. John 21:15 So when they had dined, Jesus said to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, love thou me more than these? He said unto him, Yea, Lord; you know that I love thee. He said unto him, Feed my lambs. 16 He said to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, love thou me? He said unto him, Yea, Lord; you know that I love thee. He said unto him, Feed my sheep. 17 He said unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, love thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Love thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, you know all things; you know that I love thee. Jesus said unto him, Feed my sheep. Lamb, sheep, or teacher of God’s Word, you need to be faithful to listen to or teach only what the Bible teaches. Anything else is a false gospel. Paul was as concerned about the gospel and what people taught as Peter was. Galatians 1:6 I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him who called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: 7 Which is not another; but there be some who trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. 8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. 9 As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed. Are you a teacher or minister of the gospel of Jesus Christ? Take care that the only gospel you teach is what is found in the Bible. If you hear a message and your spirit sends up red flags, search the Scriptures to know the truth of God’s Word. Then when you stand before the Judge of the earth, you will receive a crown of glory for your faithfulness to the gospel of Jesus Christ. Let’s pray: Father, let me teach only what You would teach from Your Word. Let me not lead anyone astray with what I teach. Let Your Holy Spirit be my guide in everything I say and do. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen. Copyright © 1 April 2021 by Valerie Routhieaux Image courtesy of Pixabay

Thank you for the reminder. We should be warned on false teachings and false prophets. As what you have prayed, I also want to only teach my cell group members the Word from the Bible nothing else.
