Baby chicks are busy trying to push their way out of those shells! The first baby hatched yesterday afternoon. The photo above is baby chick no. 1. She is doing fine this morning and very active. Baby no. 2 hatched out shortly after after lunch today. She is also doing well. I'll keep you guys updated, but I see a couple more eggs pipping so hoping more hatchings this afternoon/evening. @CarolDM It is a slow process! But fun to watch! My hubby has even shown some interest and wanting me to intervene with little Slow Poke who is on Day Three of trying to get out of that shell! So far we are doing good!

Still waiting on Slow Poke. I do think that will have to be its name. It was one of the first eggs to pip and is on day three now of hatching. It makes a little bit of progress every day. I do hope it makes it out today! Beginning to worry it may be distressed.

Not applicable when hatched in an incubator. They will be fine and kept away from adult chickens to protect them from being harmed.

@wolfgirl569 She is still working on it and one more pipping. That would make 50% hatch rate with those two. On day 23 now, I'll have to give a couple more days.

It is funny watching them. Last night all of them were sleeping (up to five hatched now) and one was still on its feet and dosing off very slowly with eyes drooping.

Congratulations and how wonderful, That cute little chick must think someone played a joke on it to come out on April 1 from a nice safe shell

That was the first one and arrived on the 31st. I was joking that we could have March, April and then continue on down the list for months.

Yes, very facinating. Amazes me how some don't waste time hatching and then you have a slow one that takes two to three days. We are still waiting on one that was one of first two to start pipping. It seems to be okay still today and has made some progress but very slow going.
