I almost hit a kid

I kid you not, I almost did! On one of the roads that I drove through, the path was narrow and there were houses near the road. It's a bit deserted and quiet village. I don't know how the folks there think as they're pretty oblivious about their safety regarding the road usage. They might live in a deserted area, but sometimes there were even huge lorries driving through there. But really, those people had little reservation on what they should be doing. A grandmother was walking beside her granddaughter that was cycling a toddler's bike on the road. Not once, I met them twice. A kid nearly walked straight into my company's van once. They saw the vehicles, yet they still walking on the road like they're made of iron. So today, I turned and drove into the narrow road. There were lots of cars today and most were parked near the road. Thankfully for that, I drove really slow there. A girl, maybe around six, suddenly just showed up behind a car and ran like she had no care in the world. If I were driving fast, I would've hit her. Then she ran around the car that parked there like the whole thing didn't happen. I almost had a heart attack, yet she didn't feel anything. I need to be really, really careful when driving through that road again. Those people might not care about their life, I certainly want to make a safe trip without needing to go to the police station.

Even if it is not our fault, we can be blamed and our conscience hurts all our lives if accidents happen. Lucky you managed to avoid the child. Take more care.

Even if it's not my fault, a tiny part of me will still feel guilty. Hope she doesn't run around like that anymore.

In the Philippines the parents have a liability if something like that happens especially now where minors are not suppose to be outside. Good thing you were driving slow, I pity the child, she has very irresponsible parent's.

@Fleura how could they be accompanied when parents would fall in the same restricted category

@prinzcy here children that age must be accompanied by parents, under our present community quarantine, minors below 18 are not allowed to go out same with people 65 and above. Sorry for what happened to your cousin.

@louievill So people aged 65 and above can't go out unless accompanied by their parents?

That's very true. I hope it doesn't. But if she keep on running to the road like that, it's very likely will happen.

Yes, I am also very careful when driving on small roads. Another thing that annoys me is when I am about to turn right and a motorcycle would pass on my right despite the fact that I already had my signal light flashing.

Yes, that too! It's like they didn't care for the signal at all.

That's a pretty scary experience especially with the thought of what could have happened. Glad that it wasn't a serious accident

I am glad I didn't hit her at all. A kid that age, no matter what, will be hurt if I hit her.

That is such a scary feeling to almost hit someone or something. Makes your blood run cold. I am so glad you didn't hit the girl. Her parents need to make sure she isn't running in front of cars like that she may be killed.

I don't think the parents even care or know where she was at the time. They're too busy socializing.

It looks the same as here the children are running around the neighborhood a lot even though they are only 2 years old. In the past, there was an incident that was run over by a car tire and the child's leg had a fracture.

I think the lack of common sense is a global problem. It's not entirely the child's fault, but the parents as well.

Ugh - such close calls. As drivers we can be as cautious and careful all we can, but these adults really need to be supervising the little ones when they are near a street. I can understand your heart attack!!!

I don't think the parents care They think it's safe enough for the kids to roam.

@prinzcy That's very irresponsible parenting. Here, the drivers are fast and crazy . . . a little kid would be ran over very easily - it's a parent's duty to keep a hawkeye on them on streets!

it was the child's fault but obviously something like that will haunt any driver - hopefully the kid will learn from it to treat traffic with more respect and wariness

I hope she does too. It's really dangerous. I couldn't imagine what would happened if I were a bit faster or distracted by something.

@prinzcy still not your fault if pedestrians of any age fail to check for cars before going onto the roads

@Shavkat I don't want to hit her, whether it's her fault or mine. Those people might not see it that way and destroy my car. Then I would need to sue them. It would be a long story.

You really have to be careful in places like that! Those children just run about without thinking y et if they ran in front of you and got hit, it could really wreck your life! Glad you have been careful and got through without any incidents!
