I'm Taking A Week Off In April.

Other than major holidays, it's rare I take off of writing orders for several days at a time. And even then, it's not uncommon for me to work on Halloween, Thanksgiving or New Year's Eve. The last time I took off like that for non-holiday reasons was when I went to New York for WWE SummerSlam in 2015. I don't mean falling behind and putting it off 'til the next day or switching a weekday and weekend. I mean just taking off work to relax or whatnot. I made the decision a few months ago that I was *FINALLY* going to give myself a week off. It's not something I wanted to do all of a sudden, so I chose to wait a few months. This way, I could make sure I was financially able to do it, let my clients know, etc. Welp, I'm working this upcoming week, and then on April 10th or 11th (depends if I have to work that Saturday), I am off of my writing orders for THE WHOLE WEEK. No messages. No orders. No proofreading. NOTHING. I'll resume messages the following weekend (April 17th and 18th) to line up work for the following week. But until that Saturday, I don't want to even think about work... as much as possible lol. I get it. I work from home and my job isn't physically demanding. But it can be mentally demanding. There are messages and lining up work, researching, writing, proofreading, fixing mistakes, submitting, possible revision requests, and then with the next order, it's lather, rinse and repeat, as well as putting together a weekly schedule of writing orders, MyLot posts, etc. I realized a few months ago when I just couldn't find the focus or motivation that while I enjoy what I do, I need a break. I'm not entirely sure what I'm going to do over my break. I may go out on some days, may just relax on other days. I really need to make a bigger effort to fix my sleep schedule while I don't have a work schedule to worry about messing up. I may also try to get back into the habit of exercising since my ankle is healing. I'll still be around online; including MyLot, but I won't be working on any writing orders. It's my way of mentally recharging, and hopefully, returning to my writing orders better than ever. :) Photo Credit: Pixabay.

Heck, even if you just lounge around all week, you deserve it!

Thank yooou! I didn't lounge as much as I was hoping to because I kept going out, but I think that's gonna be in the cards for Friday. Maybe Saturday, providing I don't need to step up more around here (Mom, sister and brother-in-law are getting their second doses of the Covid-19 vaccine on Friday, so we'll see how the side effects hit them). Sunday, maybe later, because I'm going to get my hair cut that morning. But I've been lounging in the evenings, so that works lol.

well you deserve that break. When you work 7 days a week, it can be exhausting and you won't enjoy life anymore.

Thank you. I usually work five days a week, sometimes six and rarely seven (but I'm sure it's happened). I do need a break to recharge though.

A well deserved break. It feels good sometimes if we take a break from our regular work.

We all deserve a break here n there. I hope you enjoy your much needed time away. I just started a new job so I won't be taking time off for awhile (I got switched to a different department at work). So I probably won't be taking any days until 4th of july if we go camping.

Any kind of job can be stressful if you don't force yourself to take a break or set personal limits or bounderies. I hope you enjoy the break.

Thank you so much. I never took a week off for no reason because I felt with working from home and being self-employed, I shouldn't, but now I'm learning that it's necessary. Thank you again.

That's good you're taking the time off. We all need time to recharge our batteries. I usually take time off between books.

Sounds like a great idea to take a break - especially since you haven't had a week long one in a that long! Hope you enjoy it!
