Cats sleep 13 to 14 hours . That way they have lots of energy waiting to be released when they wake up. Cats like to be out at night to hunt for prey. They are good hunters and when a pet and fed they will bring their catch to you as a present. Sometimes alive. Along with dogs they are the most popular pets. Cats have good night vision and they can hear things that we can not hear. I like dogs but like to have a cat as a pet because you do not have to take a cat for a walk. It is a lot easier to take care of a cat over a dog.

Mine have never scratched me. You take their paws when they are kittens and push the claws back end and when they get older they do not put their claws out at you.

Same as you, I like a cat more because they do not need all the attentions that a dog needs... and cats do not bark.

No pets allowed here. But when I was a kid at home we had dogs and cats.

I have a very spoiled 12 year old cat. Lately, she's seeming to forget she should be sleeping. She is an indoor cat. Never outside. I am thinking of getting my porch screened in so she can have another play area and not get away.

@jstory07 Mine has never tried to go out. She wants to follow me and I can leave the door open as I go on the porch for something and she'll stand there waiting for me. I still worry she'll see a bird and will want to go after it. I'm looking at having part or all of my porch screened in. I can leave my door open when I do and no flies too.

I like dogs as a pet. They seem to be more protective. Cats may be a bit easier to take care of but I still like a dog as a companion.

@jstory07 I had one dog in my life that I loved very much. We live in a smaller place so easier just to have a cat. I had a cat along with my dog also. Now, I have a cat. Yes, very true cats are up at night and sleep during the day. Very true you do not have to walk them and they are very clean and use a litter box to go to the bathroom. Their hearing is so much better than ours and loud noises may bother them. My cat is used to the noises we have here because she has lived with me a long time to know what to expect. She does not like when I get upset. I do not consider her just a pet but my family.

Since I have a fenced in half acre I don't need to walk the dog. As for cats being easier, uhhh no, those litter boxes are a pain in the butt and I won't let mine outside because they'd kill what little wildlife I have here.

My cats, especially Kofi would bring back gift. And yes, some were alive. Like that frog that decided to escape by jumping straight to me. Cats can hear things we cannot. So when they're staring for too long at some thing, it would feel a bit creepy.
