Mega Decks

Mega Decks is a show on the DiYNetwork. It's a pretty fun show to watch and reminds me a lot of Tree House Guys. Obviously they are building two different things, but the proportions are comparable as is the style of the show. I've seen pizza ovens added to a deck, a special staircase built for a senior dog, a sunken jacuzzi and much more. These guys seem to love adding fire features in their builds. I'm aware not everyone has access to this channel, but you can find some previews for it or even buy it on youtube if you wish. These "Decks" are often the size of a master bedroom, if not larger. What would your ideal deck or patio area entail? I'd like a wraparound deck with one large enclosed area. I'd have a fireplace and floor to ceiling windows on either side of it. I'd have a massive papasan type swing or hammock as well.

I am happy with our new deck. It leaves room for the screen room as well.

I'm glad you're happy with it. I'd love to have an update to our backyard, but we couldn't really do a deck here.

@CarolDM That's great! They don't last as long as we'd like.

I would love a deck thats big enough for nice outdoor furniture, a barbecue and a firepit. I love watching those types of shows but then I always want to do something in my house

Oh I understand that completely! My front porch is surrounded by the wall to the den, foyer and kitchen. It's just a tiny little thing. Our back patio is just a patio. We have a hill that abuts it so there's not much we could do without tearing into that.

@Marilynda1225 Sounds like a lovely place to read. I would do the same on this porch if we could get it cleaned off and screened in.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I have a small front porch which is big enough for a bench, a chair and a small table. I like to read out there in the afternoons as it's shady. The sun is too bright for me to spend time on the deck mid-afternoon.

I want a catio (cat patio for our four cats) built. My mother says our great-uncle will make us one. I also would like hand rails on my uncle's deck.

Is the catio the one that extends from the window? A friend of mine thought about doing that for her cats.

@ScribbledAdNauseum no. catios are huge patios that extend from a door of small opening from a wall.

An enclosed swimming pool that could be enjoyed year-round, while at the same time not obstructing my husband's view of the sky on a nice day.

The main thing I would want would be for it to be screened in.

No screens (so far) on this show. They put glass around it, the kind that slides on tracks. I like the idea of wind screens though.
