Today I took my aunt to the doctor for my cousin. She had a test to do and it took about 2.5 hours from start to finish. We both enjoyed the company and catching up with what is going on with all "the kids and grandkids." She will get getting her first great grandchild later this year. It will be fun to have another baby around to enjoy! I didn't get back home until after dark. It is a 1.5 hour drive to her house. Then we had to venture into Baton Rouge for her appointment. I decided to surprise the hubby and bring him takeout Chinese food for dinner. He was very happy about that. He accomplished a good bit on the homefront today. He unloaded the dishwasher and put the dishes all up. I'll be finding things in funny places for the next few days, but won't complain! He also found the belt for the mower in stock in a little town close to where one of the daughters lives. I told him that is perfect. We will go surprise them tomorrow and go to McDonalds (only thing close to their house) and get some ice cream. So that is the plan for tomorrow! He also took care of Slow Poke today and the other 6 babies. Slow Poke is still hanging in there but I dont expect him/her to make it through the night. He is just not thriving. I suppose it was Mother Nature's way of keeing him in the egg so long. The other chick that I helped get out of the shell is doing goood. It's growing and active. It may have something wrong with one of its feet, but nothing major. I think it will all work out just fine with that one. I hope everyone had a nice day and keep it on track for Wednesday! @DocAndersen She used to keep me when I was young while my mom worked. She had all the Disney albums and loved to sew. I had the most clothes for my Barbie dolls! Love her!!

It’s sad to hear about Slow Poke. We’ve had beautiful weather and a lot going on with the house, yard, and sports.

I was hoping that Slow Poke would make it. He/She put up a good fight though. Spring is a very busy time of the year. Too bad it doesn't last longer!

@kareng I’m sorry. She did try, poor baby. Spring is my favorite season and you’re right, it goes so quickly while we have so much to do.

Poor Slow Poke, I feel so sorry, there is a way to help him getting out? I know that it is dangerous, but may be he can get a change to survive.

I got him out day before yesterday. He/she just wasn't strong enough to thrive. I kept him hydrated and tried to get him to eat for day and a half. He didn't make it through the night last night. He was a fighter though.

I finished reading my book while she had her test. Was a nice visit though! Slow Poke didn't make it through the night as I expected. He/she put up a good fight though.

@wolfgirl569 I was expecting it. He was a fighter to last that long! I'm sorry you lost 3 of the maran crosses! That is odd.

@kareng Sorry about Slow Poke. I was hoping. I hatched 4 of the maran crosses and have lost 3 of those. All of the easter egger crosses are doing good. It just seems very strange to lose like that.

Yes a visit at home or going somewhere fun would have been much better. But I'll take what I can get! Thank you. We can only do so much with the critters. As much as my hubby has griped about baby chicks in the house in the past, he has been very attentive to this clutch!! Hope you are doing well!
