Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II of England has just announced the death of her husband, Prince Phillip the Duke of Edinburgh. He died peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle. He was 99 years of age and was looking forward to celebrating his 100th birthday in about a month's time. Her Majesty announced the news a few moments ago with deep sorrow.

I have just read in the local newspaper. I am very sorry, I hoped he could celebrate his 100th birthday the next June 10th. Will Harry come back home to present his respect?

@sharonelton Harry is part of the family, he should be there, "private" surely does not mean without the family members.

@sharonelton The Duke of Edinburgh was part of a family whose royal roots spread right across Europe. He was a descendant of the Danish-German house of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg, whose members have provided bespoke royalty to Denmark, Norway and Greece. Philip was himself born Prince Philippos of Greece and Denmark on June 10 1921 on Corfu. He certainly had a lot more German than Greek blood and did speak German.(from the net)

My first thought is Harry, how hard it must be to be so far away.
