Weight Loss Journey 2021 Update - April 9th

Hey everyone, how are you all doing? Today was a pretty busy day so I never got online until late this evening. I will say I did not stick to my diet today. I started off okay but just didn't really care. Weigh in? I went up 0.8 on the scale I believe. Was not a whole lot, but still was disappointing to see. Blood sugars - I only checked the fasting (233). What did I eat? I started the day off with just some pork rinds. Wasn't really hungry, and didn't want to cook/find anything else. Later at my mom's (around 5 PM) I had my first real meal - a corn dog and some fries. Tonight, I had a hot pocket. Yes, a little candy as well. I don't think my calories were too much over the limit with only having two real meals and such. I know the carbs were though. I need to rethink some things. I wanted to succeed with carnivore....but I struggled a lot with that. I do like meat, but eating solely that....I can't really do that. Maybe I can do one carnivore meal, one keto chow shake (or another carnivore meal), and then a low carb meal a day. That might be more manageable. It'll still keep my net carbs pretty low....but won't be as restricting. For now, I still will have the occasional "cheat" day. Need to work on them being no more than one day at a time.....once I get that under control I will start working on limiting how many a month, and so on.... What do you all think? Have you ever done a diet and struggled? Monday I will try again with the changes I have added. I got to try things till I find what works....

@DocAndersen Not sure that is always the case. Seen someone in their darkest hour and they gave up all hope (my uncle)

I ate lunch with my oldest grandson at a fancy steakhouse and decided on the rib-eye burger. It was so huge I couldn't eat it all. I had fries too after saying I wouldn't. I do struggle with some things like fries, chips, and occasional candy. I did attempt some kale chips tonight but after had a Twirl Popsicle. We have tomorrow to try again.

It is never easy, is it? Especially on a weekend. Kale chips? Those don't sound good! A twirl popsicle? Never heard of that.

@MommyOfEli2013 Kale chips are good if done right. The bag I bought was OK and had dried chick peas too. First time I ever tasted them, they had samples at a health food store. Sometimes, I'll buy fresh and bake myself adding some olive oil and sea salt. Crispy is tasty but saving for later never seems to be. I'm sorry, I meant Fruit-Twisters. I had just read about making my own swirl version and wrote that in error.

@noni1959 Well, if you don't like kale to start with, not sure the person would like the chips lol. Well glad you can do that and like it. Still not sure what fruit-twisters are.....lol but I don't eat fruit so yea lol

Keep trying. I feel that scale is your enemy this early in the journey. But I know you want to see progress. Maybe have your husband hide it and only get on it once a week

The scale is not really a problem....my blood sugars still being high after doing well for a few days is what my problem was. I cheated this weekend...but will get back on Monday....I won't go on another month long binge. But not going to do full carnivore as I failed at that too. Maybe a mix of some carnivore and then low carb/keto meals.

Diets are difficult to follow unless you have the right mindset, like them, and stick to a plan. If so, you may not want a cheat day.

Well the only "diet" I would like to follow is to eat what I want and not worry about calories or carbs hahaha. Not want a cheat day? I always will.

Does your mom know the diet needs to keep your blood sugar under control? She could be a big help to you if she does. She would know the food you eat at her home isn't good for your blood sugars and help you keep on track. Everyone I associate with knows I'm on a diet and need to lose weight. They don't offer me anything that would cause conflict with my needs. In that way, I'm not only accountable to myself, I'm accountable to them. They are happy to see the progress I make in my goals.

@just4him But they still buy the candy, donuts, etc.... and expect me to take the weekends off my diet. No problem...

She knows. And I can stay low carb there. Just sometimes I get to the point I don't want to think of what to have, or don't want to make it...or so on. Well I am glad that the people in your life know and don't offer you anything you shouldn't have.

A diet is always a struggle. My husband keeps bringing food home; and that doesn't help. I think a combination of carnivore, Keto and low carb would work for you. Keep at it.

@MommyOfEli2013 You just have to get angry enough at yourself to make a change! I haven't been able to either!

Sadly it is....why is nothing ever easy. Just 1 thing being easy in life would be great. That's nice he does, although I understand it doesn't help a diet. Yes maybe a mix would...but not making any promises...I can't keep them.
