I Was Shocked By An Odd Question

This morning, I went to East Tawas Park for my morning coffee. It was beautiful, probably about 50 degrees outdoors. A car pulled into the parking lot, about five spaces down from where I was parked. It's not uncommon, many people do this during the morning hours. Dog owners bring their pets down to the park, for a brisk walk along Lake Huron. I've chit chatted with many dog owners, over the years. This mornings experience shocked me, to say the least. I was sitting in my car, enjoying some coffee and praying for people that I love very much. There was a knock on my side window. A man was standing there and he asked if I needed help with directions. I thanked him and said, 'No, I'm just here doing some reading.' He asked, 'Do you ever date younger men, you are a very beautiful woman!' I'm sure he noticed that my countenance changed. I responded, 'No, I'm a married woman!' He nonchalantly walked back to his car and then left soon after. I was dumb-founded, to say the least Photo: Mine

Hmm, I'm usually quick at repartee but I would be dumbfounded by this question and would need some time to think of an appropriate answer.

He wasn't acting aggressive or suspicious, the man was extremely polite. Yet, I'm far past any dating experience, especially as a married woman:)

He was very polite, but that doesn't mean anything. Ted Bundy was notorious for being charming!

He used flattery, to get me to trust him. What was his ulterior motive? To find a female.

That would scare the bageezas outta me. I mean flattery aside, what kind of man approaches a woman in her car with that kind of line?

At least not like that. If you'd been in a store and had a man say something like that it would be different and maybe not as scary cuz you'd have been in a public place where there were other people.

That made me smile and my response is even though that was odd you should be pleased that you looked beautiful to him in the morning I have a friend whose daughter is unhappy that she has found no love in her life and is coming on to 50 she would have been very pleased to have this question asked of her,

I felt he was trying to be helpful. Then, he asked if I dated, but politely walked away. So I don't believe he meant any harm and he certainly didn't act disrespectful. His question shocked me, that's all.
