One Task Out of the Way

Now that I have my new computer up and running, I had to get done the task of logging into all of the accounts I have that matter to me to make sure when I need to access them, all I have to do is login and do what I need to do. Stock accounts, bank accounts, Amazon, Hotmail, and all of the usual fare. Including MyLot of course. So, that is done and out of the way. Next big task will be to go through a lot of my old files on the old computer and transfer what I want. I think I will do that another day. It is too nice outside right now to be cooped up, and I can still use the old computer if I really need something from it.

How do you remember all your logins? Some people log in and save the passwords in their browser (like Chrome) but I heard that’s not a good thing to do, even if you’re using your personal laptop.

@porwest If you have a variation of the same password on different sites it will definitely be hard to remember which password goes for which site.

I try to keep things similar or the same so I know the login is usually one of three or four.

@lovebuglena The thing that trips me up often is there are so many different ways someone wants a password established. Some allow all uppercase. Others want upper and lowercase. Yet others want letters numbers and symbols. It can make things very confusing and very hard to remember which one wanted what form of a password.

@jobelbojel Seems like I found one video that says to use a particular file transfer software. It transmit the files via wi-fi. I wonder if it is safe?

Oh yes relax and be at ease now, knowing that your new computer is working just fine. It's a nice day there I am sure. My day is all shot to heck just now, but I may yet get something done. I like the logging photo

I wound up doing exactly that. Just took the day easy and did my own thing and then later on made my bean soup. Sorry to hear your day was shot to heck.

Loved the reference to logging with your photo. You'll soon get everything transfered.

I need to get onboard with this cloud thing. I use Dropbox for work. But I think something like this could be very useful for personal use as well. And I really like Dropbox.

Setting up a new computer and transferring files is a pain. Once you've done that though you will be so glad you have a nice, shiny new computer!

Are you going to junk the old computer unit after that? You said you can still use it but I'm sure the new set would be carrying the task most of the time
