Why am I a magnet for SPAM/SCAM emails?

I just found yet another silly email in my SPAM folder. Why am I a magnet for these kinds of things? Does someone think I am an idiot? Did my music friend (an ultra-Conservative) pull a practical joke on me? The headline said something like: "They're coming after your guns!" In the text, they are begging for money. My only gun is a 1958 Remington .22 caliber rifle. It is deep within my closet and unloaded. I shoot beer cans with it in Montana, and nothing else. My Conservative Montana friends and I joked about people who worry about the disappearance of guns when Democrats are in office. One said something like, "If a fella up here used an AR-15 to shoot a deer, nobody would respect him after that." Do you think this is real "Republican" SPAM? Or just another SCAM? I'll attach the bulk of the text. --- Fellow Conservative, BIDEN JUST ANNOUNCED AN EXECUTIVE ORDER TO RESTRICT YOUR 2ND AMENDMENT Press Secretary Psaki just let Biden’s plan slip! After helping Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi dismantle your 1st Amendment freedoms, Joe Biden and the Democrats have targeted your 2nd Amendment with an Executive Order curtailing gun ownership rights. DEFEND THE 2ND AMENDMENT Donate to ensure the Democrats never come close to destroying our Constitution! Joe Biden and liberal Democrats are willfully ignoring the law of the land by working to repeal each and every right that the Constitution provides. DEFEND THE 2ND AMENDMENT Far-left, progressive Democrats want the United States to look like China, Cuba and other FAILED socialist states. Pledge a donation to protect the Constitution! We need your help to fight back before the Democrats succeed... Thank you for your support, NRSC HQ

I suspect it's your Karma. Try treating your Asian brides a little nicer and the spam might go away.

@TheHorse It sounds like you're being tested. You might want to consider cheating.

@xander6464 I keep my Russian Brides on the third floor, but they're not much better. And my third floor assistant butler (a young chap) wouldn't meet my eye last week.

@TheHorse if it was the NRA I would believe it but they do their own fundraising.

@TheHorse I’m a republican and I’m not hearing from them. The NRA does their own fund raising.

What makes you think so? I read today that there are some interesting SPAM SCAMS going on in American politics right now. Older folks and other "vulnerable" people are likely to fall for them.

If something is in your SPAM folder, why are you opening it? Your email provider can usually separate out the spam from real emails and puts stuff you shouldn't open in the Spam folder. Quit looking in it and you'll never see the stupid crap!

My email provider routinely puts real mail in my Spam folder, so that wouldn't work for me.

I didn't any misspellings, or anything like that. I'll probably never know. But I did read today that there are some SPAM SCAM emails going out in "real" American politics right now.

Seems they have targeted you. I am sort of like a target too. I keep getting emails that do not go into my spam folder but attract my attention by saying they owe money and support etc. meanwhile I only opened one and it brought me to a place offering me a loan, I do not have any debt and I certainly do not want a loan but then why does the email say we owe you???/

Well, if we imagine that you had been a ferromagnetic metal. If you had stayed close to another magnet for some time, you would have become a permanent magnet yourself (at least for a while). If this has happened, you should try reaching Curie-temperature. That should scramble the magnetic fields of your atoms so that you just do like the rest of us, and attract dust due to be positive and negative.

@TheHorse Depends on what alloy you are, but I think getting angry at some stupid person and taking it out in playing something really loud and fast might help

I would like to say it is just you. but I can't lie about that. They (the NRA) are casting a very wide net right now. They are in financial trouble for the first time in decades and really struggling!

I don't even open the emails I know are trash or spam. I just delete them. If you have a Paypal account, I think you always get fake ones about your account being compromised. I get ones from Apple saying my IPhone has been infected with a virus. Just spammy garbage, I don't even open them up.

@TheHorse Some of those spammers will promise the moon if they get a response. I have known so many people who fell for some of these things. It seems like they really prey on the elderly.
