On the one hand we are progressing in terms of science and technology while on the other we are stuck in the rut when it comes to wars. The never ending rumblings of wars are heard with threats of annihilation of supposed foes. The reasons are: 1. Suspicion of other’s intentions 2. Political dogmatism 3. Religious fanaticism 4. Internal political issues portraying a few as enemies from time to time And the list goes on. As per me, it is mostly due to arms merchants stoking the fires of wars from behind the scenes. Politicians are their puppets and the common citizens, the ultimate victims. It is time for all citizens to rise as one, declare, and assert that let the status quo be maintained and follow religious tenets that says act of forgiving is divine - “But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.” Mahatma Gandhi said “The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong.” It is time to move on like we do in personal lives. Those who still want wars let them fight face-to-face and leave others alone. The world citizens as one want peace and have no issues with another. Don’t you think it is time we took a fundamental step forward as we have seen enough of wars, who benefited from them, and who ended up as the victims? Image: Wars from free media site Pexels

If there is a Hitler who thinks he has enough power to conquer the whole world,He will immediately start a war,and he won't care how many people will die in this war.If it's neccessary,he will let his people all to die for his crazy ambition. Now there is a Hitler in this world,he builds the Concentration camps and tries to make a genocide to some minorities. He uses his money and people to infiltrate and invade those freedom countries. He helps some despots to seize the power and make their countries be his colonies. He is invincible and nothing to fear.Because he has many hostages and slaves in his country. If he forces and brainwashes his people to die for his crazy ambition,This world will go to the Third War. But now,it doesn't happen.Because his crazy ambition is found by many righteous people in the freedom countries,Although his evil plans still work andhe has built many colonies in those poor and autocratic countries.but his anti-human crime has let those biggest and best freedom countries found how evil and crazy he is.That's why the Third War doesn't happen But if someday, the Freedom Countries believe in his lies and submit to his seduction, just like what Arthur Chamberlain and Edouard Daladier did to Adolf Hitler, the Third War will come soon. And i believe this time the New Hitler will won.Because he has nuke bombs and millions of troop. He has nothing to lose, also has nothing to fear.

@Shiva49 You're very right,If all of people love the peace and stick together,Hitler can't start the Third War.If he dares to use the nuke bombs,he and his slaves(Although a little of them are innocent) will be exterminated immediately When we all choose to stand on the peaceful and right side,a few of tyrants and their totalitarian invasion can't beat us.The freedom and peace will win in the end.I wish it can be true, and i wish there is no world war for the human being again.

@choijungeun I have been friends and neighbors with a few from your country. Despite the language issue, we found only common grounds to coexist. I felt very comfortable with whoever wanted to be friends with me. What is theirs is theirs, what is mine is mine, and all will be left behind. We end up on this planet earth as human species leaving everything behind. Wars do not benefit us - what for, to prove what? We should tell those who want wars, go and fight yourself - leave us alone.

Wars are initiated by one man's bloated ego. And then he has henchmen to play along and egg him on. The despot has no feelings and conscience. And he ends up killing the innocents while he may still survive to negotiate a peace treaty. The smaller countries are keen to give in to a bully and realize their folly too late. And the United Nations is toothless. Now we have social media to bring the peace loving together - please leave us alone should be the clarion call. Even miles of another country's land is of no use to us. Anyway we we are going to leave everything behind and leave empty handed. That is the writing on the wall. Peace is the winner while in wars all end up as losers. We have seen it many times. History is the study of not only the past but the best guide for our future. Real leaders fight for peace as it benefits the common people. There is nothing that cannot be resolved with the right attitude - give and take, but not one giving and the other taking!

While I agree with the ideal, society doesn't work that way. While some might flock to your cause, others might be itching for a fight and agree with the maintality of war. The question, who's stronger? Who comes out on top?

Because humans are animals and again, those things would be nice, but realistically would not last. It only takes one flicker to start a fire. Just look at COVID and how the world is treating it. Keeping in control by keeping the adverage person scared. @Shiva49

@kaylachan The issue is we can be manipulated by wily politicians with selective data and statistics. We should be humans first and then whatever we want to be. A child is ever so innocent till they get manipulated by the ways of the world and the cycle is repeated. I believe it is time to break the cycle of wars and brought forward animosity. I am touched to receive comments from across the world and that shows the futility of wars touch a chord in us whatever be the political inclinations.

Agreed, but having interacted with many from different countries, I have found most are apolitical and friendly. They want go be left alone. Then why the leaders stoke fires of war? In the end, those who have no enmity with another end up killing and maiming one another. I heard a World war veteran ruminating - what for a peace treaty after the war, why not speak across the table before?

No one benefits from wars. They cause unnecessary devastation and lose of innocent lives. I’d like to see peaceful negotiations or those who want war can kill each other in my book.

@Shiva49 I have to agree. It’s pathetic, but I know we in the USA have to be ready for anything. Most diabolical countries have their eyes on us.

@DianneN There is no dispute/disagreement that cannot be resolved through talks across a table - okay to adhere to safe distancing now - through video conferencing! Now the present ways are more about humiliating another.

I really wonder at times on whose behest some leaders are spoiling for wars. Every day we hear about threats and counter-threats. Things can go horribly wrong if one side fails to blink. And some countries spend more on weapons than on food and health. They want their people to fight on empty stomachs as it were - for what?

I guess we should keep a few arms under our sleeves, in case a warring alien lands here one day, though. There was fighting right from the very beginning, if we believe the Bible story about Cain and Able fighting, and also about the "war" or rebellion in Heaven, when the Devil got the boot out from there. Perhaps, there is warring in our genes then, but we should have outgrown these jeans by now, and by now, we should have replaced that base nature with love. The journey is from savage to saint, and consciousness rising is what takes us there, aligned to a growing wisdom pool of understanding of the real truths of our living.

The problem is we have short memories. The reality is another world war will make the one before look like a walk in the park. Einstein said it so well, or warned us - "I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones". The consequences of another world war will be unthinkable. It is not going to be like a street fight. With social media at our command, the common citizens should assert, give full play to their democratic rights, and say we don't want wars - we agree to disagree. God is love, are we not faithful and believers as the majority assert? We believe in forgiveness and want it in real life too.

@Shiva49 Urban warfare is all around us too. Kids fighting in the playgrounds, bullies bullying people everywhere. Drivers driving their cars with no consideration for others. The mentality also has to change at the grassroots level too, as this is where the tall trees grow from, the leaders with aggression in their trunks. As you say, most of the citizens are peace-loving, but there are white ants amongst their lot too, intent on destroying the property of others too. War goes on at this lower level of petty thieving from others, and of house invasions by gangs, the latest thing here, now that we have African gangs here everywhere too.

@innertalks Of course, it is work in progress as there are always the few out to take advantage, test the waters. I almost became a victim of pick pocketing upon setting my foot in Paris. I was taking the metro and was carrying bags in both hands. I was accosted by a young African gang but luckily I had "deep pockets" with my handkerchief covering my wallet containing money, identity and credit cards I told the gang they were young enough to do some work to earn an honest living. Maybe, we should "attack" from the top to start the peace ball rolling. Innocents should not perish to stoke the ego and selfishness of the very few. Let us get the message out loud and clear.

I always think that no one wants a war, and then I realize that there are people who still want a war, because they think it will solve something. Yes, forgiveness is a big deal, but sometimes it’s very hard to forgive.

We have to move on after learning the lessons. It is said, we punish ourselves repeatedly by carrying a grudge, hurt, while the perpetrator walks away nonchalantly. Mahatma Gandhi said, “An eye for an eye will leave the whole world blind.” It is far easier to plan and live in peace but then the arms merchants will lose out. They need to find a better way to make a living!

Wars benefit only those without conscience. Those who initiate, instigate, wars have no interest in common citizens. We should nip the virus of wars in the bud.

I think our creator and nature have ways to teach humans lessons till they get it right. Now we are reeling from an unseen, minutest, virus. We will never be able to get away with a devil may care lifestyle.

Living in peace is what comes naturally to most people - say 90%. Look at myLot! However, a few spoil the lot, create and sow mistrust, vitiating the atmosphere. Even within countries, it is the few leaders who create havoc, engage in warmongering. We need to assert ourselves
