Helping My Boy in his Assignments

My boy is in Grade 9 and he is attending his online classes since October. I could say that it was quite difficult for him because he was used to be taught inside the classroom. It was a good thing that we don't have issues on internet connection unlike the other kids who could not get online because of financial difficulties.
Seeing my kid having a hard time, I am always come to rescue him especially when assignments piled up. Teachers mostly require heavy performance tasks and assessments considering that he has 8 subject learning areas.
Vlogs, journal, writing assignments are sent online. Preparations are too heavy that I believe my son really needs help.
Do you help your kids in doing their assignments?

@LadyDuck That is the problem when no one is available to help children or the worse like you said, there is no way that the available adult can help. Good thing that you were there to assist her.

@cherigucchi When she started using a computer her mother knew nothing about computers, my brother was always busy with his work (he is a doctor), I helped her when I visited them.

When my elder daughter was in first grade, I helped her draw a tree. Her teacher gave her a 6/10. It made her cry and told me never to help her in her homework. So I never did.
I never opened my daughters' assignment notebook, nor any other notebook. Their grades in school are entirely their own work and effort.

Well, she had her reasons not to let you help her!
When it was face to face I never helped them in any of their homework especially my two elder daughters. But this time, its quite different, kids need a lot of assistance especially from elders. This has been the battle cry of all parents, teachers who are involved in distance learning.

@eileenleyva Consider that he has 8 subjects that require different performance tasks including online assessments. Performance tasks like preparing a travelogue using powerpoint and converting it to videos and vlogs, writing scripts, newscasting, preparing audio presentation and the likes. Self-learning modules have 8-10 or more activities to be answered and submitted weekly.

My niece is total hands on with the studies of her son who is also learning from home via the internet. I can't tell from my experience because I can't be there in their house because of the COVID infection

Bow that we get to online, kids really need to be assisted by elders at home especially those from the elementary grades.

@gamayngbaki Those are the advantages of online schooling and I agree with you but there is also downside of it.

@cherigucchi To be honest I prefer this online schooling because we get to witness how our kids are performing in class and we don't need to worry about them getting home/ commuting to and from school. And they get to eat proper food during breaks.

I used to help my younger siblings. Now they've grown up except for Lil Bro, I am left with helping him. It's not easy to teach a slow learner. You need lots of patience. He would also forgot whatever we just told him in minutes. I really applaud his teachers.
