Horse Jr.'s mom may be a bit nuts, but she sure knows how to create a peaceful living space!

As I have mentioned, I live in an apartment complex when I live in California. Horse Jr. and his mom (she's from Croatia) lived in the apartment two doors doors down from mine, to my right.
My house looks like the house of an absent-minded professor: books, LPs, stacks of class handouts, and guitars all around. Hers looked like a really peaceful place, perfect for a mother and child in a small space.
But as I have also mentioned in the past, she is a bit nutty. She over-disciplines Horse Jr. for minor infractions, doesn't believe in math or physics, and believes many of the conspiracy theories of Alex Jones.
All of that said, we had some nice evenings in her house sipping wine while horse Jr. played with his Matchbox cars on the floor. I'll attach a picture she just sent me of her new balcony wine-drinking space. I also have a picture of how she's "done up" the living room their new place in North Carolina.
I hope that she becomes some kind of "interior designer" when she gets tired of working as a "pastry chef" at Safeway. Do you have friend with skills you hope they nurture in the long-term?

Yes has good ideas about design but I prefer ideas about education. I prefer people over things.

@marguicha Different people have different values. I have to accept that.

I did, or well that is to say I used to. She's gone now (still alive but we've lost touch). It's sad really when people put obvious talent to waste.

Looks like a really nice and cozy space, No, friends now that I know of, I do have a friend who used to want to be a fashion designer but then the kids came along and the years went by and she did some designing but never made it to the top.

Yes, I have an internet friend that makes wreaths for fun but doesn't think they are good enough to sell. They are awesome and I'm not the only one who has told her that. She could get $50-75 for each one she makes easily. I wish she would trust her friend's instincts and just give it a try!

Did I ever tell you about my friend Elton? In my humble, almost nonprofessional opinion, he has mad piano skillz. He's been doing it part-time for a few years now and I'm urging him to turn it into a full-time job.

Her place looks so serene. Ours is cluttered and "lived in". I have a friend that just got her real estate license (our little housekeeper who is a second cousin to my husband). She now stays at home full time with her children; but I know she's done a lot more before in the work world. I'm sure she will succeed.

How can anyone not believe in math and bake a cake or pay the bills? It's all numbers.
