We got the predicted snow

We have a slight breeze and it appears to still be snowing.
I would happily take a snow day if it was offered.
It is not bitterly cold. The flakes are not huge.
Today I am trying to start a new routine. I have gotten out of the habit of reading, so before breakfast, or getting dressed, or coming here, I read a little in a book. I hope this routine continues.
I still have tulips blooming. I hope my iris continue. There are tons of violets everywhere. I hope the snow makes me appreciate spring even more.

I think the violets are enjoying the cooler weather. I have never seen mine so prolific before.

@LadyDuck I keep reading recipes to make violet syrup. I wish I felt motivated to try it.

@GardenGerty I always had many wild violets in the garden, they usually fade as soon as the warmer temperature sets in, by April there are no more violets, NOT this year.

I would like to get some more tulips. There are quite a few of these that were here when we moved here. This afternoon we had sun and it melted all the snow.

@GardenGerty planted a whole lot more bulbs last autumn. I wasn't crazy about them until I visited an open garden and they just had wonderful tulips everywhere, I was won over!

We always have the possibility of cool weather, but it does seem very strange.

Those are lovely blooms in the picture.
You are right. Snow will make you appreciate the spring more.
Is the picture from your garden??

These are along side my house. They were planted here before we bought the house.

I was reading where you talked about that, maybe on Facebook or maybe here, I am not sure. Reading before bed is supposed to help you sleep.

@GardenGerty we aren't friends on Facebook so it must have been here or maybe a comment on a mutual friends post on Facebook.

Yes, flowers come in such wonderful combinations. It is also amazing that we are having snow so late.

@GardenGerty Surprisingly, we are having unexpected cold temperatures tonight. It's going to get to 35 degrees tonight, a rare thing for this area in later April.

The temperatures and windchill were not too bad. The flowers seem to be okay.

It did not get desperately cold. Yes, I loved reading when I was younger and both of my kids do.

@GardenGerty I'm glad it didn't get too cold.
Reading is important. I'm glad they enjoyed it too.

I am surprised that nothing has eaten these. They were here before I moved here. There are places we do have snails. I save eggshells and crush them and put them on top of the soil to discourage snails and slugs.

Our snow isn't scheduled until tomorrow, but only one snow flake for every two rain drops... Supposed to rain today but the sun is shining and the sky is mostly blue.

No the tulips have been at this house a long time. Where we live they come back annually. Some places that are warm all year cannot grow tulips.

If you do not have six weeks of cold weather, tulips do not bloom. People in warm areas keep the bulbs in their refrigerators and then plant them. They have to do that every year.

@GardenGerty That's a good idea. Well, I need to have a big fridge for them to grow beautifully.

Yes, and snow is unusual for April, but I have seen it both in April and in May.
