On Current Learning System and On Life's Status

Disclaimer: This is what I observed and my POV. This is in line with my previous post. When the school year 2020-2021 started last October, I realized one thing, the current learning system reflected the status of life and it is saddening. Self-learning Kits(SLKs) or modules and online classes, the current learning system now here in the Philippines due to the pandemic, no face to face classes yet to be held, and you know the reason. And I am the one who collect/retrieve and distribute the SLKs. What made me see the difference between the poor and the rich with the current learning system? Not all parents here in our community finished college, some even didn't finished high school, therefore they have a hard time teaching their children when it comes to their SLKs, do you get what I am getting into? The rich parents can afford to pay for tutors for their children, or they have this unlimited access to the internet, while the poor ones, it is the opposite. They would fill their empty stomach first before they can pay for someone to tutor their children or they will just do it. But... How can they teach their children with lessons that they even have any idea, and I for myself, who finished college has a hard time? There has been a huge difference of lessons in school today than 20 years ago. It is like, how can you give something you don't have? The only words that I have said to them, "kakayanin yan" (you can do it), i have to encourage them and their children as well. Every once in a while i say the word "fighting", they have to fight, for their future lies on making it through their studies.

If the rich parents can afford to pay for the tutor the online classes is useless. It is like teaching at home and teaching online is something that I can`t understand. Parents usually don`t have time to teach their kids. That`s why schools are created. Parents are there only to assist but not to be teachers

Parents have to be determined that their kids will do their best and try to finish. I hope their is feedback for the SLK's so that students learn from what they got wrong or did not complete.

their performance are graded in two, academics, which is the part of the writings/answers and taking down notes and the other one is performance tasks, that part where the student have to take a video of him/herself or a photo that he/she is doing the tasks. some subjects are 30(academics); 70% performance tasks while some are 40-60

We all are going through a tough time. I agree with you that education and lessons have changed a lot over decades. I have experienced the change in learning module both as teacher and parent. Last whole year was the year of virtual classes and it is no where close to the fun of physical school. Also not all can cope with the demands of online classes. We are still not sure if the coming academic year in June is going to be the same. The situation seems worse with second wave of the virus.

@Lucky15 And for us teachers too. Planning for online sessions is an extra work and not even effective.

True. Though am not sure with students in rural areas but here in Metro Manila, city mayors really provide gadgets and internet connections for their students.
