One thing I will never forget..............

I'm trying to see what kind of Terrier Roscoe is mixed with, do you see Airedale in him?

One year ago today I woke up in a hospital bed. I had never been hospitalized before and was in a daze. At 6:30am that morning I had driven myself to the emergency room due to excruciating pain in my stomach mostly on the right side. I had to have an emergency appendectomy. So naturally last year was a total waste and not cuz of covid. I finally got back home on May 11 and had instructions from the nursing staff to take it easy anywhere from 6 months to a year depending on how I felt. At first I couldn't even bend over at all, it hurt if I tried and as far as lifting 10 lbs forget it, I couldn't do it. Well, now I feel totally healthy and fit and can finally lift 40 lbs again, whew, I've waited a long time to get this far. About the picture. I've been curious about Roscoe's lineage so I looked up Airedale and came across the image on the left, I think I see a resemblance, what do you think?

I'm shocked by the time it took you to recover from the appendectomy. I had one about 7 years ago and I had a very normal recovery of maybe 6 weeks. But the amount of time you spent in the hospital is an indication of how serious it was.

They had to drain the puss from my stomach cavity so I'm assuming the blasted thing had ruptured.

I don't know a thing about gallbladders, do they cause a lot of pain if they go bad?

I am glad that now you can lift 40 lbs again, I would be annoyed if I could not. Roscoe has pointy Ears, more like the Fox Terriers.

Well, he is part German Shepherd so that could account for the pointy ears. But I will look up Fox terrier just in case he resembles them more.

But only his snout. He does not have the body of a Fox or Airedale so it will be difficult to determine just which terrier he is mixed with. Not all terriers have whiskers.

You were a long time recovering, didn't they do your surgery with a laproscope? I thought that meant less down time afterwards. Your dog does look something like the other.

I think so, no one actually told me but since then I've had a few people tell me that I shouldn't have had to go into rehab for a simple appendectomy.

I don't know, they had to pump the puss out of my stomach cavity and for 4 days I had a drain tube in it to get rid of the excess.

@rebelann Oh it ruptured didn't it? Yes, I know that it takes much longer to recover from that. And to think that you went thru that during this pandemic, you're made of good stuff I'd say.

I remember your episode in the hospital. So glad you are fully recovered. I see a slight resemblance around the hair on his nose. My friend, who passed away a couple of days ago, May she RIP, had an Airedale. Roscoe is cuter.
