Update #2 - 5/3/21

I was using Microsoft Edge without a problem, as I posted earlier, when all of a sudden at 7:10 am it froze up. I had to turn off the computer in order to unfreeze it. So apparently a new browser is not the total answer for my computer problems. If anyone has a suggestion, I'm all ears! As I mentioned before, my caches have been cleared. I used to the same too. My laptop would freeze and I had to remove the battery and put it back so the laptop can restart again Opening many tabs can freeze it. I like the photo of the girl and horse

I'm glad you enjoyed the photo. I have a tendency to open a lot of tabs.

@LindaOHio you now need to open two or three only. If your computer's memory is small, it can't support opening many tabs. It will keep crashing or become very slow when you move from one tab to another

I haven't defragged in decades. I don't know if they still need it. I should look that up. Thanks.

@wolfgirl569 I looked up some info on defragging. If you have Windows 10, it shouldn't be necessary. You go to the search bar on your computer and type in Defragging or something like that. There is an Analyze feature that will analyze the % of fragments. If it's below 10%, you don't need to defrag. Mine is at 4%.

Consider yourself lucky that you have a computer that still works, even if your internet freezes up. I currently don’t have a computer and I have to use my phone for any of my computer needs. I’ll be happy when my computer arrives in a few more weeks!

@LindaOHio I wouldn’t say that a 4-6 week wait for my new computer would be considered ASAP, but if it works as well as they say it will, then it’s worth the wait.

Luckily if something happens to my laptop, I have my desktop. I hope your new computer arrives ASAP.

I'm glad you enjoyed the photo. I'm also thinking about calling Tech Support at Spectrum to see if they can give me any enlightenment. Some here have given good suggestions as well.

Maybe you have a lot of programs running in the background and that is slowing things down...?

@LindaOHio Hopefully, you'll be able to figure out why that's happening and how to resolve it. I wish I could help but have no idea.

No programs running in the background. Using Edge has been much better; but it still froze up yesterday.

That's OK. I have a couple of suggestions; and I'm thinking of calling Spectrum. They are the ISP; so they might have some helpful hints. Have a good weekend.
