Indian premier League IPL has been postponed indefinitely due to covid infection to some of the players of different franchises. The tournament was running smoothly almost for a month amid worsening covid situation in the country after it began on 9th of April until yesterday when match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Mumbai Indians scheduled at Delhi had to be ppostponed as one of the players of Sunrisers Hyderabad wicket keeper batsman Wrudhiman Saha was found positive for covid infection. Some other players and support staff of other franchises have also tested positive. Organisers of the tournament were therefore left with no other option but to postpone the league indefinitely. The final was due on 30th of May.

@msdivkar I beg to differ. Here one man's word overrides others logic knowledge and management abilities. When we had those lock downs, we realized what can be the cost. Right? Can our economy absorb another such shock? Surely guys like Piyush Goyal and lady like Seetharaman understood that. But they cannot tell Modi Shah to do the right thing. They can only meekly say ..and leave it to fate. You want to say Dr. Harshavardhan did not tell Modi Shah about Kumbh Mela and Elections? You gotta be kidding me. But they are powerless before the election winning now election losing duo. You want to say Piyush Goyal and Harshvardhan and Sambit Patra could not calculate the population versus vaccine production? And they did not have any idea how to go about ensuring correct implementation of a plan. But who is listening to them? Remember after Jaitley Goyal was the right candidate for Finance portfolio but he was not given that much power, and Seetharaman can be easily told to do something as she is a woman. Such a great strategy to keep good for nothing Shah et al., in higher place. If Lancet predictions come true, this will make RSS a laughing stock, and Hinduism too. Let us get that straight first. I remember Meeraji's bhajan lines, moorakh ko tum raaj diyat ho, pandit firat bhikari, santo karam ki gati nyari. You give power to idiots, while the wise roam like beggars..that is your karma.

@vandana7 I don't discuss politics as I don't like that dirty game and players playing it but one thing I am sure about that nobody predicted the second wave to hit the way it has. I remember reading an article on BBC website " Has India come to the end of Covid19" or something like that praising India for its successful control of the pandemic when rest of the world particularly western world was tormented by second wave. The elections and Kumbh Mela were going on when second wave had already struck India. People at large should take equal blame as politicians to take part in both the events.

The department concerned are struggling to bring it in control. We can't expect to have miraculous treatment where the best health systems in the world failed bitterly. Our government should have learned from the lesson and avoided elections and Kumbh Mela.

It’s best that the matches are postponed. I read about on the news this morning.

I think it was rather unfair to expect players to play at this time. Somebody is making a lot of money at the expense of others for sure.

It should have been postponed a lot before. Many of the foreign players already left the tournament in the middle due to the fear of the virus.

@anil02 They are likely to shift the balance portion of the tournament to UAE where it was played last year.
