I just remembered this.

When I was sixteen before cell phones this happened. My friend and I were going to the park to sit and talk. When we got there. A black truck pulled in. I parked on the side of the street and watched. The man in the black truck got out and went around to the back of the truck and pulled out a big box. He looked around and than picked the box up and laid it down in the middle of the park and left. We waited until the truck left and when into the park. Parked my car and we both ran over to the big box. We looked inside and there was a Mommy dog and four puppies, We knew that we should not take them home. So I went and found a pay phone and called my Dad. My Dad and Mom came right over and we went with them to take the dogs to a no kill shelter. I was so sad to have to say goodbye to the family of dogs. But the lady there said she was proud of us for bringing the dog family to them. And they would find a good home for all of them and fix the Mommy dog and put her up for adoption. The Mom dog was young only about one. It makes you wonder why the man did not keep the poor Mom dog. It takes all kinds to live in this world of ours.

You did such a wonderful thing. There are all kinds of nuts in the world, and the nuts that do that to poor innocent animals are the worst.

People have their reasons for why they do things. As sad as it is, the dogs and their mother are better off at a shelter. Or, I should say were.

Good for you for doing the right thing in calling your parents. Thankful there was a no kill shelter who was able to take the momma dog and her pups in.

What a sweet memory! I get so frustrated at people who treat animals like toys to be discarded when they get tired of playing with them.
