Happy Cinco De Mayo (5th of May)

United States
May 5, 2021 7:16am CST
Good Morning! As I said yesterday, I'm celebrating with bacon cheeseburger casserole. I'm excited about this dish! Mmyum. Well, it's not raining (at the moment - but there are isolated chances) and guess what i'm not doing? That's right. I'm not walking outside. I really should be, but I just don't wanna! Plans for the day include my normal activities, plus trying to work on crochet a little more. Also, it's One Chicago Wednesday (Chicago Fire, Pd, Med comes on) and so I'm looking forward to Chicago Fire's newest episode. I am also getting excited about the antiquing adventure we will have this Saturday. What do you think I'll find? How's your day? Are you doing anything for Cinco De Mayo?

No, I was not doing something special for Cinco de Mayo. My day is fine. I didn’t have todo my weekly grocery shopping. Enjoy your Thursday.

You didn't have to do your weekly grocer shopping? Your husband did it for you?

@thelme55 I need to learn to shop better. I am in the habit of only getting meat once a week and for maybe two meals.

That's a bummer, especially since you guys have to miss work for a bit while he recovers.

@thislittlepennyearns Ah okay. We've had a lot of roof work and pavement work going on in our neighborhood lately. They've had to work around the rainy days.

It is storming again here, the temp is 33F and I had to bring the plants we haven't put into the ground back into the house and cover the others with sheets to protect them. Why would we celebrate a Mexican holiday? We aren't Mexicans. You do know it's not even a holiday in Mexico, right?

I know it's more a holiday here or well, an excuse to get drunk. But why wouldn't we celebrate? Honestly my friends and I usually celebrate just as an excuse to have tacos.

@ScribbledAdNauseum It's nothing to do with us. And Mexicans in Mexico don't even have it as a holiday. Just seems weird that we'd celebrate something they don't when it's their victory. *shrug*

@DaddyEvil I don't really know what else to say to that. We celebrate St. Paddy's day and it's, well I guess it's more our Holiday than Ireland's. Think I'd heard somewhere that even the Irish don't really celebrate.

It was absolutely delicious. I added a touch of dill veggie dip to give it that pickle taste. It was perfect.

I hadn't heard about the antiquing adventure. Where are you going? Antique shops, house sales, etc.? My day was meh. No, we don't celebrate Cinco de Mayo. Have a great day.

To be honest I have no idea. Probably my friend's mom's usual haunts. It's a sort of surprise to her. I think she now knows we MIGHT come, but she doesn't know for sure we will.

I forgot it was Cinco De Mayo. So, no....nothing here...except trying to breathe (I am sick again with a stuffy nose). Sounds like an interesting casserole, I think I made a low carb cheeseburger casserole once.

Sorry you have a stuffy nose! hope you feel better soon. Oh and it was delicious! I used a dill pickle dip (just a bit) to make it have a slight pickle taste. it was fabulous.

@MommyOfEli2013 ah, kids are always bringing home germs. Sorry you were both feeling ill! Hope you both feel better. My cousin feeds his kids elderberry syrup and it works great with them. They do get sick, but it doesn't last as long.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Thank you, it is okay....my son had one and of course I caught it too lol. That's great to hear....never would have thought to add a pickle taste (although I don't like pickles so I wouldn't lol) but glad you enjoyed!
