Zen koan: The dead frog comes alive to life

A frog never croaks before it's time to croak

The Zen master, Zerko Zerkpski, was reading a favourite book, when a student came in, and interrupted him with a question. "What book is that you are reading, o, great master? Do you still need to learn from such books?" The master laughed loudly, and replied. "The day that anyone stops learning, reading, and taking his place in life actively so, will be the day that he is as good as dead in his life too." The master put his book down on the nearby table and said to his student: "Ponder on this koan, and come alive to life." "What is the sound of a dead frog croaking?" The student replied, "Dead frogs do not croak." The master said in return comment: "Well, why do you croak at me?" Suddenly, the student saw through to life, and realized that life was not about being a frog, dead, or alive. Life was about him being himself. Until one croaks as himself, he remains a dead frog to himself too. Very inspiring frog story. I wonder how croaking applies to humans. Humans never croack

Thanks. Humans have been described as having a croaky (scratchy) voice sometimes, and to croak it, also means to die, as well.

Good lesson. May I always croak when I have something to say.

Yes, we need to croak loudly sometimes, and give out our message, for God.

So many humans, it seems, croak when silence would be a better choice.

Yes, but at least there is silence, when they finally do croak....of, which, we all must do, at some time.
