In a bad mood - begging from world but focusing on building parliament India..

India is receiving aid from the world. Aid is what a country spares another country turning blind eye to what its own citizen's needs. America does have its poor you know. And I am sure there are poor in Australia, Uzbekistan, UK, and elsewhere..we have received help from every corner. Thank you. So while we are denying others, do our politicos stop election campaigns? No. Do they stop religious functions? No. Are they stopping attending those weddings and birthday bashes? No. Their achievement is getting monies from outside the country. Getting that Aid. Get it? Latest in the list is construction of Central Vista. The proposed building could have waited. Not for the reasons that were presented to Supreme Court though they are valid too. But the fact that we can be sensitive to others pain as humans. Bread winners are dying. Families are getting into financial problems due cost of COVID treatment. Children are losing parents, and their future is becoming uncertain. Parents are losing children who would look after them at this stage of their lives. But nothing seems to affect these politicians. One is busy shooting letters to the PM, while the PM periodically calls meetings as if he has any idea on how to tackle the situation. Nobody is saying I will surrender whatever I have earned for the country. Or at least some part for ensuring proper roads and logistics for transporting oxygen or setting up a unit of oxygen concentrators or a hospital. Long ago I had criticized this government for building Statue of Unity. I had criticized this government for not closing schools and housing the labor. Nothing seems to matter to them. They will get on that dais, heckle a woman contestant completely below the level of a PM, and then speak of girl child of this country. Sounds like a Rowdy to me...if speeches at the time of elections fall so low. We Indians have completely lost our senses if we can elect people like this, and I don't mean only our PM or home minister or Yogi Adityanath or Nadda. We in Telangana are also grappling with a leader who is clutching to his earnings and refusing for a lockdown. He too built many houses as soon as he was elected, and got his car and those of his ministers painted different color because black is "inauspicious" color. Taxpayer pays for all that. There is justification for tax evasion with leaders like this.

I fully agree with you! No leader is bothered about the lives of the poor man or an average man who lost, is getting lost and will be losing because of this infection! Every body is interested in getting the aids from the possible resources!

@vandana7 , the Government is unable to stop the black marketing of the essential medicines, oxygen and provision of minimum facilities to the needy which is too disheartening!

@AKRao24 Cost of ICU bed with ventilator is Rs.1 lakh per day in Hyderabad. It may be more elsewhere. On an average it takes 14 days or so. Some may need it for a month. Please communicate.

Nice post. Politicians are always like that in many nations. They care about being promoted or becoming the next president I don't think poverty will come to an end in this current world. COVID is making even those who don't understand what it means to be poor to forcefully adapt to the new changes I think it is okay to receive help. Even India helped others too

I don't expect anything from politicians. I expect from the common public. That itself is a lot of expectations! People should spare the politicians. Better to look within.

I can think of a way to control the politicos...it will require change in constitution. How do we go about it...it is very simple actually...nowadays it will be dirt easy.

Much of what you said is sadly true everywhere.

I'm sorry the situation in your country is so dire. I think every government spends needlessly while it's occupants starve. I hope India continues to receive aid whenever possible. 1.2 million new COVID-19 cases in 72 hours is unacceptable! Something must be done.

If the politicos leave the issues to those who can handle it... ah but the contracts must go to those whom they know as there have been kick backs. I simply cannot understand construction of parliamentary buildings at this time when we need hospitals and roads and all the monies for O2 generation and transport and of course medicines...vaccines. What were they doing all this time if they had monies for that building. Hatching eggs? If they had the monies and the statistics about vaccines, and tests, they needed to ramp up production of vaccines and tests and medications and oxygen. And also speed up transportation arrangements. No ability to plan important things? Only ability to be strategists in winning elections. Shame...

@LindaOHio It is looking scary for now. Lancet predicted 1000000 deaths by August. I am predicting 2000000 deaths before we turn round.

@vandana7 You'll get no argument from me. The U.S. is pushing and pushing for more vaccine; and many, many Americans are getting vaccinated. Our hospitals have ventilators now; and things are looking up for now. I hope India gets on the same track soon.
