Why do dogs love to sleep?

I stay at home all day long. And my dog does not do anything but eat, play a bit and sleep. He sleeps most part of the day especially when I work.
And yet, in the evening, he sleeps as soon as his fur touches the floor.
What a life!
why do cats and dogs sleep more than we do?

Mostly, the dogs have their schedule. My dogs wake up 4 am for their dentastix. Then they go out and check the yard. Comes back for a scoop of doggy pellets while I sip my coffee. We go out together around 5:30. The dogs run and chase each other while I water the plants. Then, when we get back inside, the two fall asleep.
8 am run and chase
9 am sleep
12 noon run and chase
1 pm sleep.
It's a dogs' world.

@Janet357 I know. I address my doggies - your royal highness, your dinner is serve! Sigh.
But I do sleep soundly at night. They guard me well and good. Or maybe not. They probably are sleeping while I am sleeping.

They sleep because they know you're going to take good care of them, no matter what they do. There isn't anything else they need to do, so they sleep.

Maybe I'd they could be outside more they wouldn't sleep so much? It maybe they were made that way.
