He thinks I am strange

My husband always has something on his feet. Socks and slippers. Shoes, work boots. I like to be barefoot. I have been out this morning and walked on the grass. Some people believe that this kind of "grounding" is good for your physical and mental health. I do not know, except it feels good. I also like to sit on the grass. The weather is pleasant today. Then it will be cooler starting tomorrow. I will mow more in a little while, as well as plant some things. I have already put together a chicken/broccoli/rice casserole for lunch. It has a little "southwest" flavor because the meat is fajita seasoned and I stirred in a bit of salsa. The day is going well. I will see you later.

Although I do not like to sit in the grass I am always barefoot so can completely relate to this. And like yours, my hubby, always has something on his feet, and quite often it is more then just a pair of socks. Our son prefers to be barefoot, but his wife cringes at the thought, so he often will slip on a pair of birkenstocks if he is going outside or crocs for the garden. Its a happy medium and we all have to do what keeps harmony in the household.

I know lots of people like flip flops, but I prefer the over the toe slides. I do not want something between my toes. Birkenstocks can be pretty dressy too.

I have no problem walking on the grass barefoot but I've not done that in years. My feet tend to be more tender these days and getting to the grass isn't easy unless I write sandals and took them off in the grass. Only my back yard has decent grass the front is mostly moss and weeds and bare ground other than where I have flowers planted.

Weather permitting I am barefoot in the house. I don't feel that comfortable going barefoot outside here though..too many bugs around and the grass is not that good either. Sometimes on the porch I will, but once I almost stepped on a large spider in the dark..

The spider would have regretted it. Each person has to find their own comfort zone.

I am almost always bare foot too. I love walking in the grass that way, sitting not so much. Your casserole sounds good. I am going to try and mow when we get home from Mike's moms later this afternoon. I was planning on getting it done yesterday but I didn't feel good. Really low on energy and felt cold, which is very rare for me.

What kinds of shoes do you wear. I have slip ons and tie up shoes. I think being bare foot improves my balance.

At school where the floors are concrete beneath a thin carpet I hurt all the time. I feel so good outdoors when I can be. I run around without shoes most of the time at home. I have heard some of this and was always allowed to be barefoot when the weather was nice. My student I work with would love to always be without shoes and he is allowed it part of the day. We can tell it has important sensory value for him.

@GardenGerty I love being barefoot, too, whenever possible. I prefer to wear socks instead of slippers in colder weather.

I prefer to be barefoot too. Hubby is starting to try it more as he sees how much I enjoy it.

In winter, I wear socks in the apartment. In summer, I'm barefoot. I've always loved going barefoot to feel the ground beneath my feet. There's something satisfying about it.

@GardenGerty Sounds like you have a busy day. That does not mean you are strange because you like to walk barefoot and he does not. I also wear socks and shoes both inside and outside. What is important is that you feel comfortable with what you do and he feels comfortable with what he does.

I try to keep those things cleaned out of the yard. I do not do it much. I have a swing I sit on, too.

I don't go barefoot as I can't for several reasons. One being a few years back I was barefoot outside and stepped on a yellow jacket. Oh, the pain, and an ER visit as I am allergic to the stings, and it causes my throat to swell.

Yes, you must be careful. When I was young I occasionally stepped on bees, but had very little reaction. In the last five or six years I have had wasp stings and a yellow jacket last summer. If anything stings me I make a poultice of plantain leaves.

Yellow jackets and wasps are tons worse on me than a bee sting. I just hate them

Shoes hurt my feet so I am barefoot in the house- most socks dig into my ankles so nope on socks, either. But outside?? No way am I barefoot there. Too much rough ground and super nasty stickers.

Some socks do "strangle" my ankles. There are places in my yard that are not good for barefoot. Of course never barefoot if I am mowing.

I even like it on the wood floors. Not so much on the tile, though.
