A new bird to share with you. The Tree Swallow. They have decided to build in my backyard Bluebird house. This is great and exciting to see.
However, I have missed the Bluebirds this year. I have seen them raise families here since 2011. Oh well, I suppose they are in someone else's yard this year. There is always next year for the Bluebirds.
The Tree Swallow is always a sign of spring in much of North America.
Male Tree Swallows have shining blue-green plumage on their backs, contrasting white underneath. Females are less colorful but almost as shining as the male.
They are beautiful birds for sure. I have been watching them build a nest. They like white feathers and often line the nest with feathers. The have found feathers in the yard and they seem to be almost done with the nest.
We will see what happens. Never had these birds in the bluebird house. One good thing with these acrobatic birds is they love insects, including mosquitoes.
Snapped many photos so far of these beauties. Here is one showing them both at the house. The female is inside, and the male is perched on top of the house.
More photos to come later hopefully as they progress. This one snapped form inside, behind the patio doors. The Bluebird house is in Dustin's garden.

@DocAndersen Still having a hard time getting used to someone else occupying the bluebird house. At least they are blue... birds.

That is very neat. I don't think I ever even heard of a tree swallow actually.

They are certainly lovely birds but I've never heard of them before. I'll have to check if they're ever in Michigan.
