Day 274 Promise 742 Revelation 1:4 John to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace be unto you, and peace, from him which is, and which was, and which is to come; and from the seven Spirits which are before his throne; 5 And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him who loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood, 6 And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen. Do you feel special? Do you feel set apart for a special purpose? Does your life have meaning? Or do you slide through each day without a plan? John sent letters to seven churches. First with a blessing of grace and peace to them from God the Father, from the Holy Spirit, and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the first begotten from the dead, and the Prince of the kings of the earth. Second, John showed Jesus’ love to them through His shed blood. Third, John showed them their purpose: to be kings and priests to God and His Father to whom belong glory and dominion forever. As Christians, this prayer John gave to the seven churches gives you hope and purpose. You see here the divine Trinity represented in the blessing and purpose. It wasn’t only one member of the Trinity, but the full Godhead: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. You see their eternal existence together. And you see the faithfulness of Jesus, the Son, the faithful witness, who washed you in His blood to make you kings and priests to God and His, Jesus’, Father. They alone deserve glory and dominion forever. Peter mentioned your purpose also. 1 Peter 2:9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should show forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light: 10 Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy. Before you accepted Jesus as Savior and Lord, you were nobody, a person without a purpose. All that changed the moment you accepted Jesus as Savior and Lord. You became part of the chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a peculiar people. Your purpose is to show forth the praises of God who called you out of darkness, out of bondage to Satan, into His light. You belong to Him and because you do, you have grace and mercy from Him. Your purpose is to bring Him honor and glory. For an ordinary person, you wouldn’t do that, but for the One who shed His blood for you, sanctified you, and set you apart as holy to Him, it is reasonable and worthy to sing His praises and give Him honor in everything you say and do. Let’s pray: Father, let me give You praise and glory every day as I bask in Your love for me. Help me show Your love to everyone I meet. Let Your love overflow from me to them, so they too will know You and Your love for them. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen. Copyright © 12 May 2021 by Valerie Routhieaux Image courtesy of Pixabay

That's a nice prayer for each of us to say to God each day. God's love shows us the way, as we feel it pulling us in its direction, and then the Holy Spirit steps in to help us to step up into love, and to be that love for God in life generally, and in our own life too, as we live it, our life, for God, from his love, as his servant here on this Earth too.
