Day 279
Promise 748
Revelation 2:12 And to the angel of the church in Pergamos write; These things say he which hath the sharp sword with two edges;
13 I know thy works, and where thou dwell, even where Satan’s seat is: and thou hold fast my name, and hast not denied my faith, even in those days wherein Antipas was my faithful martyr, who was slain among you, where Satan dwells.
14 But I have a few things against thee, because thou hast there them who hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balak to cast a stumbling block before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to commit fornication.
15 So hast thou also them who hold the doctrine of the Nicolaitans, which thing I hate.
16 Repent; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth.
17 He who hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says unto the churches; To him who overcomes will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knows saving he who receives it.
Many people profess to be Christians, yet their actions contradict the cross around their neck, the bumper sticker on their car, and their church membership.
Jesus told John to write to the church in Pergamos about the compromise to their faith. They professed one thing, faith in Jesus, and did another, whatever they wanted whether it underscored their faith, or deviated from it.
As Christians, you know you can’t go to church on Sunday and live like the devil the rest of the week. You can’t compromise your faith. When you do, you send a loud message to everyone who knows you that being a Christian is no different from what they do. You give Satan a win with your actions.
Jesus said that those who stuck to their faith without compromise would receive the hidden manna and a stone with a new name written on it known only to them.
Compromise gets you nowhere in God’s kingdom. Only when your actions and words line up will people see you are different from the world and will want what you have, a committed relationship with Jesus Christ, a relationship full of rewards for faithfulness. One of those rewards is a white stone with a new name on it that no one knows but you and God.
Are you ready to commit your life to Jesus Christ without compromise? Are you ready for your words and actions to line up so people will see your faith and love of Jesus Christ?
Father, let my life be a message of faith and hope in You. Let my words and actions point to Jesus Christ and His love for the world. Help me be Your instrument of grace, uncompromising in a world of compromise. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

God's love inscribes a new name into our heart, which reflects our connection to God, and the white stone, and new name are then the cornerstone of our life to be built upon, never chipped away from, (never let our love lessen, or be chipped down by life) or discoloured by more sin.
We need to live from love, and let that love shine forth from our self.

@innertalks I agree. You can't get it all in one reading, or even in fifty. Every time I finish reading it through, I start over. There's always something more to learn.

@just4him I think with a lot of the Bible, there are meanings behind meanings.
That's why we should keep reading it, over and over, and so receive another layer of understanding, each time that we do so.
