I think I broke my toaster

There are three buttons on the bottom. One says bagels, one has cancel and one is defrost. When I was toasting bread the other day I meant to hit cancel and hit defrost instead. Since then the toaster has gotten heat but the red lights that show when it's toasting aren't lit up. I think it's still trying to defrost things.
Part of one piece will toast while the other not so much. I told hubs he could buy a new one. I should have told him to make sure it matches the kitchen we don't have yet.

Holding the cancel button down for 3 seconds hasn't reset it?

@MarshaMusselman I don't know if it works for all appliances, but I've seen a few that have that "hold 3 sec to cancel" thing.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I've never heard of that before and it didn't seem to fix it. The toaster does still work just not correctly. Good for now though.

@LadyDuck the toaster still works but not the way it should even after doing what you all suggested. It can wait a bit for the new one.

I have other, more primitive toasters. The other is my small electric oven but I don´t use it to toast bread.

We're getting a new stove, dishwasher and possibly fridge/freezer. I'm thinking of what color to paint the walls and what curtains I want. Not sure what all we can afford to replace after all of that. Some might need to happen over time.
