This was supposed to be a cat coaster

Hello Evening Time (my time, atleast) Mylotters!
It's very rare that i see you folks, so *waves* Hi!
I've made a cat hotpad, but well, I should say it was supposed to be a coaster.
The tutorial maker said "8 rows of increase" and "If you know what you're doing you can skip ahead." Well I know how to do increase, so i did skip ahead. I thought it was excessive, 8 rows of increase for a coaster? but I did it anyway.
So let me introduce you to my cat hotpad
Yeah, I made a mistake, but oh well. The cat has a dimple (I should have hid my tails better).
What say you?

I fail to see the "cat" part.

Look at the top and the bottom.
I was following a tutorial so I kept the ears as is, but if I do this one again I will make the ears bigger.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I did, and I'm just being honest. I also can't really see details very well.

@kaylachan Well thank you for being honest. I assure you they are there, but even I don't quite like the ears. I think they could be more defined.

Yes. I used spare yarn because this was the first time making it.

@LadyDuck I don't think my mom used much cotton yarn. She bought what she could afford, which was mostly acrylic.

Clever. Maybe next time make the ears bigger. I'm sure you are skilled enough to do that without instruction. Cool!

Yes next time I will make the ears bigger. I wanted to follow the tutorial to a a tee because I was't sure how she was going to crochet around to make the tail.

@LindaOHio A friend says I should incorporate the other popular cat coaster(the one with pink center) as she thinks it will sell.

I will make coasters after while. I bought some more cotton yarn. That is what I want to make the coasters out of so they are easy to wash and won't get rough so quickly.
Will take more photos once they're done.
Now wouldn't this have been perfect with black yarn? Would have looked just like a void kitty.

@CarolDM A little bit too fancy for my abilities at the moment, but I'll get there. I was thinking yellow eyes too. I have a pale yellow that would work.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I like the color as well. A black tail and eyes would be cool.

Very round. Makes me think of the black cats as they are often very husky cats.

Yep, I can see it and I say very creative and well done, Unless I am looking at it wrong there are the ears and the tail and I like it,

I think I'd make the ears just a little more defined. The "pointy" part is done by making a triple crochet, I'd just do two of them in the same stitch before I started making smaller stitches.

Yeah, I followed the tutorial for the ears and I don't like it either. I'm going to make coasters this time and make the ears a little more defined.

I didn't know what you meant by cat coaster at first, but I can see it now. I had a blonde moment (even though I am not blonde). I like it though!

I used a coaster pattern. The lady said 8 rows of increase. I thought that was excessive, but I think she must have mis-spoke and corrected herself but I fast forwarded because I already knew how to do increase.

@MommyOfEli2013 Basically just making the circle bigger. To increase you work a pattern of 1 stitch, then 2 in the next stitch. The next row you'd do 1 stitch, 1 stitch, two in the next and so on and so forth.
I was so confused when I first learned it.
