Day 286 Promise 755 Revelation 6:9 And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them who were slain for the Word of God, and for the testimony which they held: 10 And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them who dwell on the earth? 11 And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellow servants also and their brethren, who should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled. We live in a time when evil rules the world and many people wonder where God is and why He doesn’t prevent so much evil in the world. Jesus showed John, God has not abandoned His people. Not even during the Tribulation to come when those left behind would realize the truth of the Word of God and would gladly lay down their lives for the gospel of Jesus Christ. As Christians, you know trials and tribulations happen now and will continue until Jesus returns for His bride and us who are alive and remain will join Him in the rapture. You also know Jesus told His disciples what would happen to those who stood for their faith in Him. Luke 21:8 And he said, Take heed that ye be not deceived: for many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and the time draws near: go ye not, therefore, after them. 9 But when ye shall hear of wars and commotions, be not terrified: for these things must first come to pass; but the end is not by and by. 10 Then said he unto them, Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: 11 And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven. 12 But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for my name’s sake. 13 And it shall turn to you for a testimony. 14 Settle it therefore in your hearts, not to meditate before what ye shall answer: 15 For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist. 16 And ye shall be betrayed both by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolks, and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death. 17 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake. 18 But there shall not a hair of your head perish. 19 In your patience possess ye your souls. History shows how Nero persecuted Christians by sending them to the arenas, torturing them, setting them on fire, mauled and eaten by lions, making them part of gladiator games to blot out the name of Jesus and kill Christianity. Nero wasn’t the only one. Many others not only tried to blot out Christianity but also the Jewish people from whom Christianity arose, and who are the children of God. Persecution exists today in many countries where people are killed and persecuted for having the Word of God in their possession. In every instance, Jesus told the people to stand fast. Their lives would be a testimony of their faith. It will be true in the Tribulation when many of those left behind will realize the message of salvation and sacrifice their lives for the truth rather than deny the truth and serve evil and find their lives forfeit for eternity. Will you stand for the gospel of Jesus Christ no matter what? Will your life be a testimony to those left behind? Let’s pray: Father, let faith arise in me in the hour of tribulation, in the face of trials when darkness covers the world in evil. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
