Gosh, it STINKS!

But it also, does not stink Allow me to explain. I haven't melted wax in my bedroom wax warmer in months. It sits on my desk with wax hardened in it, and occasionally I'll get a whiff. Do you know the smell of chewed chewing gum? It kind of smells like that, but when I get closer it smells like paraffin wax. So, the chewed gum stench isn't pleasant, but the closer my nose gets to it the better it smells. Either way I need to melt whatever is in it so this on again off again smell will finally go away. *pictured is not wax, nor is it a wax warmer.

Oh, I use wax melts in a wax warmer. Not that i am opposed to candles, but it seems I always go for the wax melts instead.

First, I like the coloring you did! But I never thought of those as smelling that way, the hardened wax. I don't have mine close enough to smell though

I think this is soy wax, actually. I know I said parrafin, but I think it's soy. Yeah, I still haven't melted it. Mainly because I use my desk as storage at night. My bed is storage during the day.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Didn't know there was soy wax, to be honest. I understand that though, using them as storage at different times lol

@MommyOfEli2013 I've used soy wax to make my own melts before. It takes forever for it to melt when you're trying to melt it to infuse scent.

I burn candles. I had a wax warmer but didn't like it. (I don't remember why now, but there was a reason I switched to candles. *shrug*) I've been buying candles at the Dollar Tree. I like the ones that will burn continuously for two or three days... I usually don't notice their scent but Pretty remarks how good one smells or how bad one smells. I tell her to stay out of my room and she doesn't have to worry about it.

The dollar tree I go to doesn't have a large selection of candles or wax melts. I want to get some wood wick candles eventually.

@DaddyEvil Oh right, don't want to have it catch the drapes on fire! Yeah, I've only been around a candle like that once and we only had it lit for a few minutes before we were out the door again.

Aww I thought the pic would be some crocheted item. I've not used wax warmers for several years and may not again. I do have some essential oil diffusers which I've also not used recently. I have to find accents that my husband will tolerate.

I'll share more crocheted items later. I've been working on things I've already shared before, but soon I'll start working on a market bag. That is an issue here, it has to be a scent that is not overwhelming. I have a lovely linen and lavender essential oil fabric spray that I use here for the sensitive noses.

@MarshaMusselman Oh, that's awful! I don't blame him for hating it. Was he stationed near lavender fields, then?

@ScribbledAdNauseum My husband hated the lavender scent. When he sleeps it conures up dreams from when he served in the military.

I hope my paraffin wax in my paraffin warmer will not stink when I use it for my hands and feet. I have not used it for months. I might throw the wax and change it.

I don't think yours will as it should not be scented. I am referring to a fragrant wax for the room. We used to own one of those parrafin wax machines for the hands and feet and the wax lasts years.

@ScribbledAdNauseum My paraffin wax has a lavender scent. I just hope it doesn’t smell or else I have to change it with a new one. Anyway, I still have a box of lavender paraffin wax.

I still haven't. At the end of the night, after crocheting, I put my yarn and the project on the desk. I didn't want to risk melting the wax near it and clumsy me spilling it when I went to remove the wax tray.

@LindaOHio Not at all! Though I could simply switch the wax plates out from the bathroom and my room and let the wax melt in there. That way if it stinks as it's melting, I won't have to smell it.

@ScribbledAdNauseum No. Yarn and wax don't mix well. :-)

I think part of the issue is that the the scent has gone bad. This was a handmade item, and I think the fragrance oils can expire if they sit unmelted for a long while.

@ScribbledAdNauseum You know someone somewhere would believe you picured the oil burner.

@kaylachan I know of one 'lotter who would have made a smart aleck remark about it too. That's another reason why I posted that little disclaimer.

Nor will most. I put that disclaimer in for comedic effect.

I saw an incense burner at TJ Maxx the other day. It's been years since I've burned incense, but I thought about getting an incense burner and some incense again.

I use a mist diffuser rather than wax. Some wax scents are good only for few seconds and later on you smell the candle.

I've considered getting a diffuser but haven't made up my mind completely on it. I have to be careful as I'm sensitive to scent as are a few family members.

@Butterfingers Just don't feel like it, I guess. I usually melt more in the colder months of the year.
