Deacon Responsibilities

Received the requirements and responsibilities of being a deacon, it seems like a lot but it’s all within my wheelhouse, so I’m not to worried. The only issue would be, I don’t drive, but even the visitations I could make work.
I was actually honored by being nominated in, it will be official sometime in July, and we will go from there.
In the meantime the library is getting ready to open, and tomorrow is our Memorial Day remembrance.

Does it involve many responsibilities? I do not know what is to be a deacon in your place. In our country we refer to the deacon as somebody who is soon to become a priest.

It’s a position in our Church, we visit the sick, prepare communion, pray that sort of thing…

@MichelleKidwell - In January, I became a Deacon at our Presbyterian Church. It does involve a lot but, so far, I have enjoyed it. I have had several meetings, taken flowers to a man who was injured in an accident, and helped hand out different things at our outdoor church services. I have also served as a greeter. It has been a nice way to get to know more people in the church, which has been especially hard during this pandemic!
