To Stew or Not to Stew?

Yesterday, I was thinking of food, not that unusual really, and the words "beef stew" popped up. One side of my brain revolted. "Are you kidding? It's summertime, you don't eat beef stew this tine of year."
So, I was sort of agreeing and pushing that image away, when the other side of my brain, said, "Hey, wait a minute, you've been grilling every night for the last week, steaks, chops, even fish. What's wrong with a crock pot full of beef an veggies." I sort of had to agree, but that snarky side gave me a look.
Well, I hate arguments, even with myself, so I asked Anne about it. She thought it was a great idea. It would take care of three or four dinners over the next week.
So, after a trip to the store, I browned and seasoned some lean stew meat this morning and it is simmering aromatically in the crockpot. With some good whole grain fresh-baked bread, a nice salad and a bottle of hearty red wine at castle temperature, dinner will be so easy tonight,

I love Crock-Pots! Actually, I am married to mine, while having affairs with the air fryer and microwave! LOL

@Spontaneo It comes out better in a pan the way my wife showed me. We use brown rice. I really like Basmati. So, we sautee some onion in olive oil, add the cup of rice and let it brown just a bit, then add two cups of water with a chicken bouillion cube dissolved in it, bring to a boil, reduce to simmer and cook for 40minutes or until tender.and water is gone.It really takes no longer than the rice cooker is tastes much better.

@JamesHxstatic Today is hot, we reached 24 C for the first time this year. The mornings are still pretty cold at only 12 C. We should have a heat wave this weekend followed by thunderstorms.

@LadyDuck, It will be 35 C here today (or more) and was about 32 C yesterday. It feels like summer in Oregon and it will be a hot one.

@LadyDuck We need rain, but no lightning. There are two fires burning already in southern Oregon.

That's true. While stew is preferable during certian times of the year, you can make it anytime.

We probably will have it on by dinner time. So far the house is not too bad.
