So what's the difference?

What is the difference between banana muffins and banana bread?
The kind of pan you bake them in, of course.
Later this month my grand kids will come visit me. Along with my daughter.
I like to bake up lots of different kinds of muffins so we can have quick breakfasts. I had over ripe bananas, and an easy recipe.
The recipe says it is " banana bread" but I made a dozen muffins. There was still batter left, so I made a small loaf of banana bread.
Smells good, tastes good. One recipe down and many more to go.

You are a devout grandparent. How blessed your grandchildren are for having your prepare muffins and loaf bread for them.
Yup, banana pastries are real good for breakfast and snacks.

I do not get to have them as guests often, so I like to make the meals special and easy.

@kareng I have both frozen blueberries and dried blue berries. They will likely go in another batch.

@GardenGerty If you could get your hands on some fresh blueberries that would be great too!

That's cool. I loved my mom's banana bread. I won't eat store bought.

@GardenGerty I do for some breads, but mama's banana bread was always made from scratch.

@GardenGerty The muffins keep better if you do not consume them immediately.

@GardenGerty yes. We got some sponsors to buy them and donate them to orphanages and other institutions

Did you use a more ripe banana?
They said it's more delicious. The almost-rotten ones
but haven't tried it yet.
I tried making banana bread many times and i love them all.. because i have been trying different recipes from different people.
Just finding the perfect recipe.
Enjoy baking!

Yes, when the banana gets too ripe to eat, I use it in baking.

@GardenGerty it's the one thing i'm waiting.. when my mother buys lots of bananas, there will always be 3 to 4 bananas that will get too ripe.. and that's just enough to make a banana bread for 3 persons..

I accidentally baked this recipe once with no added sugar. It was even good that way. Most of my muffins are not very sweet.

I often throw things in the muffin pans. It helps with portion control too

Yes, you are then aware of how much you are getting.

It is one way I use up extra food that is over ripe.

If I make muffins there are fewer crumbs, and as others have said, portion control, and it is self service.

Not sure. I know I will make homemade granola--I make it all the time. I will also make homemade yogurt.

@GardenGerty
When I used my oven I used to make homemade granola and now I do not because the oven and stove are very old. The burners still work and so glad. If want something sweet I will buy it and put in freezer till I want to start eating it. I do not like yogurt.

Maybe another time. These bananas were way too far gone to be pudding.

Whether it's in loaf form or muffin form, banana muffins (especially banana nut) are one of my favorites.
Enjoy time with the family

I have a grand daughter who does not do nuts. So I made some with pecans and some without.

Bananas, potatoes, oranges, strawberries. Banana bread would be a good change of pace.

Ha ha! I would have been okay with it. Some people do have opinions of what the difference is. Most quick bread mixes (which I do not buy) have directions to make muffins as well.

That makes it "self serve" and less crumbly as well.
