My husband mom told all of us tonight that she is going to be having surgery in a few weeks. She has what doctors call a Spring Water cyst on the backside of her heart. They are going to go in microscopic and drain the cyst then cut the cyst out. This is touching the heart but not connected to the heart. But it has possibly been causing her some other health issues like breathing. The surgery it self is pretty easy but she’ll have to stay in the hospital by herself for 3 days in heavy dose of an epidural.

Wow, how did they discover that? Are there signs or symptoms that led them right to it, or were they taking a general look and in doing so saw the cyst?

She gets blood clots a lot in her lungs so they do yearly scans and her original doctor saw it in 2016 during one of the scan but never said anything. So her new doctor saw it on this year scans and asked her if she knew about it and she said no. So her new doctor told her to meet with a heart doctor since she doesn’t deal with hearts. The heart doctors explained what it was to her and that she was born with it. Many people get it and normally not life threading but would need to be removed to keep her healthy.

I wish her the best of luck. I know how dangerous those can be. Surgery of any type carries risks. Sending good vibes your way.

Thanks! I’m sure it will go as planned but yes all surgeries have risk but form the sound of it seems pretty low to moderate risk factors. I’m sure my husband over the next few weeks will probably do an in-depth research on it. He can understand all of that medical term talk and talk to his co-works.

I hope it'll be done soon and she feels no discomfort after that
