After a delicious lunch of rajma chawal ( kidney beans curry and steamed basmati rice) , we enjoyed these sweet juicy lychees that you see in the picture. It was deliciousThis was the first time we had them in this season. My husband brought them when he spotted them in the neighborhood store while coming back from his morning walk. They were pretty expensive. We have big orchards of lychees and mangoes in our native. When we visit the place in summers, we just enjoy both fruits without worrying about the price. Because of this pandemic, we have not been to our in laws place in last two years. And here we are buying and eating what our parents grow and sell back home. Done with cleaning of kitchen and now I can be here and one another site till it's my afternoon nap time. I am sleepy and I need something to distract me for another hour. My younger daughter is sitting next to me with her Hindi homework and she asked me to be awake till she finishes her essay and gets it checked and corrected by me. Well, mylot will help me stay awake for a while

Lychee flavoured ice-cream is also good. Here we have a brand that sell ice cream with seasonal e. They add real chunks of lychees and it is heaven

Never tried the canned ones. I have never tasted any canned fruit. I always buy fresh ones. Here too they come under expensive category though they are locally grown.

I have seen them here during our market day. Are they eaten raw? Or can we know that they're ripe?

Yes, you can say that they are ripe. Raw is too sour to tolerate. Skin colour changes from green to red when they ripen. They are delicate fruits and get rotten quick. So we have to consume it fast.

@arunima25 Now I know. What I have seen in the market is already color red. Its skin is rough. Isn't it?

Pretty and I have eaten lychees before... they tasted okay but aren't a fruit I'd buy again. The rest of your lunch sounded good, though.
