Found twelve cents at the checkout

I was at the supermarket last week and when I was checking out in the self-checkout register I saw 12 cents in the coin dispenser. One of the previous customers probably forgot to take the change. I decided to take it.
I told hubby about it and he was surprised I took it. He told me he saw some coins at another store we were at when he was checking out and he didn't take it. Why not? You are not actually stealing it from someone. It's just there laying around like coins you find on the ground.

It's not stealing and there is nothing wrong in picking up.

That's what I think. Now if I saw someone drop the change I might tell them or give it back to them.

@lovebuglena Actually there was no one to claim it. If it was not you someone else would have picked it up.

Some see it as steeling when it's really not. I'm not sure.

If I wouldn't have taken it someone else would have probably done that.

Yep. If I would have hesitated and not taken them someone else definitely would have taken them.

Pretty's been picking up change we find as we do our morning walks. It's weird how people throw out pennies, nickels and dimes along the street.

@lovebuglena I've seen people leaving Walmart deliberately throw the change on the ground as they're leaving. I asked one guy why he did that and he said there's nothing you can buy with change. (He told me I could go pick it up if I wanted it. I laughed and walked away.)

I've been wondering this... do they accidentally drop them and not hear it or do they do it on purpose? If it's the latter, I don't get why someone would throw out change as it's money.

@DaddyEvil
I wonder if that guy was rich. And to say "there's nothing you can buy with change" is dumb. Change adds up and turns to dollars. And there is stuff you can buy with change. Like say a banana.

It's like finding a quarter in the pay phone slot...or is that before your time? I would have taken it too.

I know the payphone thing.
I've found a quarter or two there on more than one occasion. I think I even found a quarter in a parking meter thing once or twice. And back in the day when slots used to spit out real coins I sometimes found a few laying around.

I often find a few pennies, but the other day I found a bunch of quarters in the gully

That's awesome. I once found three quarters on a bench at the train station by my house. Weird thing was they were neatly stacked.

Put it with all the other change I have at home and then deposit it into the bank when I have a certain amount.
