I stayed busy today despite my strike out with getting Social Security on the phone. They are on holiday for Juneteenth. Did you know that is a new federal holiday?
I got my outside chores done first because I did not know when the rain would start. It was cloudy when I got up so I didn't want to chance getting caught out there and getting wet. I had errands in town.
Errands went good - I was in and out at the post office. And you heard about the phone call. It was a no go. Holiday.
I came home and went out to gather eggs and give the chickens their afternoon snack. I changed out the water tub in one of the coops. And then the rain came before I finished up. I just sat on a coke crate and watched the first batch of babies in the grow out cage. They need to be transferred to the coops. They are a good size now.
Did you have a nice day today?

Yes, I heard they signed a new holiday. And while it's supposed to celebrate emancipation of black people, it sounded more like another reason for government officials to get paid for doing nothing again.
You sat on the coke crate long enough for hatching eggs to grow big enough to transfer them out with the full grown chickens? Wow! How fast do your chickens grow?

@DaddyEvil Well down here in the deep south they expect to get off. In fact, many demand off and just don't sow up for work if they don't get off. It has always been that way and the celebrations they have are big gatherings.
Yes, my hubby came outside about an hour ago and said, "oh they are big and ready to go in the coop now." Um humm. Looking like at least 4 will be chicken dinners.

Yes, I agree with that! I know most of the places where I worked were mad if they didn't get off and goofed off that day at work. So either way they were getting paid for nothing.
NOO!! Those big babies are outside in the grow out cage. I just sat and watched them. Here's a picture but it is blurry of them. You can see how big they are. That was taken on 5-21-21 so they are a little bit bigger now.

@kareng Only government people get off for national holidays. Businesses hate to give their employees days off.
My, they are getting big!

@DocAndersen Yep, Baton Rouge was like a deserted western town on holidays in the downtown area where I worked. Those businesses (food related) depend on the everyday workers to stay open.

@kareng it was all over the news. but, being near DC, we watch that kind of stuff. Traffic is snarled on big announcement days, but traffic is awesome on Holidays!

@averygirl72 I was wrong. It was 2015. So my first babies are now 6 years old.

I had a good day having my print cartridge and pens come in this morning, helping my sister get food from the food bank, the roofers coming to place another blue tarp and telling a Sylvester Stallone hater to shut up if my admiration of the character he created when he saw a boxing match between Chuck Wepner vs the late Muhammad Ali "offended" his baby little feelings he is an anime and WWE wrestling fan. Some twitter people just are so stupid that they think the Golden Rule mean winning gold medals. I am taking time off of Twitter since praising wrestlers of both genders is like talking to a corpse. Especially those of them who were not around when the movies came out in 1976.

@kareng I laugh at them since my mental health coach Gary Goodridge told me on Twitter not to allow idiots to get under my skin. I use one of Stallone's rules which is to "Vanish for a while and get better. Best revenge." And it works since I am making more money doing surveys.

We don´t see white eggs anymore here at all but we did then and I loved the brown ones with speckles on them.
The black leghgorns used to hatch white eggs mainly and the Rhode Island Reds the brown ones I used to make their food and feed them every day.
Its a nice memory and I can still feel that special warmth coming out of thsoe eggs.

Juneteenth is now a new Federal holiday? Did the Democrats approve the bill for the emancipation of black slavery? Wasn't I right?
