The spider and the lighter

I have made some incredibly dumb mistakes in life, in fact one time I was smoking while pumping gas in the 70's (I was but a mere infant).
And here is another person making a huge mistake using his lighter to kill a spider while pumping gas.
Apparently his car didn't receive a great amount of damage, but the pump was ruined.
Hopefully, the next time he sees a spider he will just look the other way.
Watch the video and see him escape certain death. It's an older video but still interesting.

A man who tried to kill a spider by burning it while pumping gas, started a dangerous fire. Get more here: http://goo.gl/kULaZ7

This one was good. I've watched it several times. Never underestimate the power of stupidity. It affects everyone at some time.

@misunderstood_zombie
Have you seen the guy that tried to rid his backyard of gophers by pouring gas down the holes and lighting it up?

I hope this lessens his "failure to comprehend" and he will learn from his lesson.

@Vikingswest1 No, but I can imagine the consequence of this.

He was thinking, "OMG! It's a spider!"

@prinzcy Yeah... He didn't need to reach into the opening, just put the gas handle in, so why bother about the spider?

I think we have all done crazy things at one time or another.

We commit mistakes sometimes.
But at least the guy apologized and felt sorry about what he did.

@misunderstood_zombie he sure learned from it. What funny is the employee at the gasoline station made fun of the video.

I agree and I'm sure it's something he regretted and hopefully learned from.

He should definitely rethink his life.

@misunderstood_zombie I would tell him to fire up his thinking cap...but that might not be the best suggestion considering the circumstances.

I didn't even think of that, but he sure drove his car out of the way real quick.

You can't fix stupid. Should've left the spider alone. Good thing no one was killed.

It's so great the lady was watching and turned off the pumps when she saw what happened.

Maybe he felt he could do whatever he wanted--he is so blessed to be alive that's for sure.

@misunderstood_zombie I am glad the lady was quick enough to turn off the pump, she prevented an explosion.

Wow! That could have gone better for him.
I'm not fond of spiders, but unless one gets on me, I leave them alone.

I'm terrified of spiders and but his fear must be huge. Leaving them alone is a good idea.

@misunderstood_zombie My daughter is scared of them. If/When she sees one she screams for me to do something about it. (It's kind of funny. She's 33 years old and still wants me to take care of a spider for her.

That is certainly not a smart move at all, It reminds me of the scene in the movie The Birds by Alfred Hitchcock where gas flowed and someone dropped a match and the gas station blew up

When I read your comment-- it brought that scene back to me also. Hopefully he is smarter now.
