Finally Have a Date

My brother had passed away quite a while ago. Every time we had planned to take up his ashes and headstone, something went wrong. There were fires, then too much snow. We are hoping that June 30th will be the day.
I love his headstone. It's from a rock from our quarry. At the last minute we made a couple of changes in the font and decided to put his first name on it, before we were not going to do it, but it felt right as I was there with our friends.
It reads "Mark walks with elk" and there is an elk track on the stone. It will lay flat up in the mountains where we go hunting.
We go laughing about what my headstone should read. They came up with My name looks for Mark and Rock. (I won't be around to make that decision, but I would bet my last dollar that they will really do that.
Somehow thinking about it and writing this today I feel a little more comforted. I am grateful.

Mine would most likely read "he told bad dad jokes."
I am so glad this is hopefully happening. The closure will help!

I will try not to trip and fall up the mountain. It's one I have rolled down a couple of times.

Mark spent years watching and taking pictures of elk. It was his passion.

It's only words on one and the other has an elk on it. I will go see if I can get a decent picture. It's in the back of the car right now.

That's a lovely inscription for your brother's headstone. I hope you will be able to make the June 30 plans. We are all here to support you.
