My days have been full of ups and downs.
Sunday was an up. Celebrated Father’s Day and my birthday at our younger son’s house with his girlfriend. We had appetizers and margaritas and a fabulous dinner that the kids both prepared. Heard from so many dear myLot friends, friends, and our entire family near and far. The gifts were pretty special, too.
Monday was a downer. We went to a long-standing friend’s funeral. In the evening we went to a service held at his former house by his two grieving daughters who lost their mom 5 weeks before.
To be honest, it was wonderful seeing our friends who attended. Our older son drove in special to pay his respects. It was wonderful seeing him, too. The three hour round trip didn’t phase him.
Today was both up and down. I almost finished my notifications and had a “beauty” treatment on my legs, arms, hands, and the part of my face that wasn’t hidden behind my mask at the doctor’s office. It hurt like heck, but my mother always told me it hurts to be beautiful, and my father always told me to stay out of the sun. They were both right.
The best thing is hubs is making me dinner.

I was wondering, why did your beauty treatment hurt? Probably because they worked on your muscles.

@DianneN And what are the improvements that the laser brings?

We all have days like that. Or days that feel like roller coasters. I'm sure things will even out, eventually.

Not mine, I just limit how long I stay in the sun. Usually I'm only out in the sun early in the morning for maybe an hour but when it starts to get about 85f or higher I'm indoors. It gets hot pretty quick in summer, it can reach 90f by 10am so you know I'm indoors by then.

@DianneN My mother had a darker tone of skin, she tanned easily. My father and I always searched for a spot in the shade where to stay even when we used to go vacationing by the sea. My husband gets tanned in 10 minutes in the sun, he never paid attention and he has some dark spots on the temples.
I never had Fraxel laser treatment, but I have heard of it... must be painful.

@LadyDuck From what I’ve seen, darker skin tans more easily. I’m fair to medium, and would burn without sunscreen. Hubs is more fair than I am, but gets a better tan. He has dark spots, too.
The Fraxel is awful, but works better than other treatments. I’m long overdue. Had to cancel my appointment the day we put Doodles down, left for Florida, then Covid. My face looks like a dog’s behind right now.

Your grandmother was right. I was a sun worshipper back in the day.
I’m pretty tolerant of most beauty treatments, but the laser is like getting slapped hard with hot rubberbands. This was a mere IPL. Getting smacked in the face with Fraxel in August.
You’re right!

@DianneN I suppose so...can't it exist without the downs though? Not sure what that would be....

i am so sorry you lost your friend (I know repeating myself, but what else can we say). Those two kids had to be distraught. losing both parents in 5 weeks is awful.
Sorry you have' had an up and down week. those are the worst without a doubt.
