It did not happen

Our power did not get cut overnight, even though the Energy company sent out a mailing that said it would happen. I wonder if our property is on a different circuit than the others where the transformer was being replaced. I was not looking forward to a night without a/c and 100 degree heat. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Edit: The upgrade or whatever has been delayed two weeks due to hot weather. Just wondering why they think it is going to be any cooler in July in Kansas. Lots of talk of people looking to stay in hotels when it happens.

We had our power cut during two nights in a row three years ago for a major update to the power line... the hotels in the area were also without power, it was July, but the heat is never a real problem here.

There are no hotels in town, so my guess is they would go out of town to a place that had power.

@LadyDuck That would be a good precaution.

@GardenGerty Better to check first to be sure the hotels will have the power on.

It must be really bad if people are considering a hotel stay!

For many it would be too hot.

@Fleura I agree. We do, however, cool our bedroom at night. During the day we just tough it out or do something cooling.

@GardenGerty What did people do before A/C? I just think of all those millions of A/C units running all the time, each one pumping out heat and making the effect worse!

Wouldn't the hotels have their power cut, too? Or maybe they have their own power generators?

We have no hotels in town. I guess they would need to check and make sure it was not happening where ever they were going.

Best to stay in the hotels as being hot with no fan or AC is not fun at all.

It would involve going out of town to do so. Then if they delayed we would be out of money as well.

I hope they postpone power cutoffs until the temps get down into the 70s, at least that is easier to handle with no A/C.

We could probably handle it in the 70's.

I am glad that your power wasn't cut and I hope in two weeks it won't be either. Ours went out a few months back and I called it in to learn we are the only house on the transformer on the pole in front of our home. They had to come and replace it.

I think this is what they will be doing, replacing a transformer or more than one.
