Breast Milk Soap

United States
June 25, 2021 8:17pm CST
Our new neighbor is sweet and lovely, and recently had a baby. She told my daughter that she makes soap with her breast milk, and my granddaughter bought several bars from her. I've used it, but somehow it feels a little strange. I would use soap containing milk from cows or goats without a problem, but somehow from a human just seems very personal. For the record, breast feeding is so natural and wonderful--that's not what I'm questioning here. Google images shows a variety of this type of soap, so is this the new norm, I'm not sure? Would you use this product? Picture is mine.

It seems a bit on the creepy side to me. Nothing against people who use it but not for me.

It made me feel strange when I used it. I was out of my regular hand soap but now I bought a refill and I'm not going to use the bars unless necessary.

I have never heard that it can be used for soaps. I am not sure how it's good for our skin

@Butterfingers I thought the same thing. That is time consuming.

@misunderstood_zombie no experience of this and not sure if anyone is selling here but if she is preparing soaps then she must be pumping lots of beast milk

I don't think I'll be able to use the soap... Sure, it's milk but I know who's milk was it. It's really personal.

That's what I thought. It's just too personal and too different.

@misunderstood_zombie The soap bars made with animal milks are processed to avoid viruses, but home made I would not use.

I only used it when we ran out of hand soap. Now I don't want to use it unless I have to.

An odd discovery. I am still unsure whether to go with it or against it.

It's something so different that it's hard to wrap my mind around it.

No, I wouldn't. I like good old body wash. Now if a brand of body wash contained it, I might. But personally, no.

Me either, I would never have even thought of this on my own.

Me either, it was my granddaughter who bought it. I'm not sure why.

No, I wouldn't... I have no problem with a woman feeding her baby. I have no problem with a woman going topless, if that's her choice. But... this just seems... icky. Maybe I'm getting old?

@misunderstood_zombie Yeah, I don't think I could use it if I had it... even if we were out of everything else.

It felt wrong somehow to use it and I hope I don't run out of my regular soap again.
