I discover real effective software Ccleaner.com they have paying one and free
one . I try the free one and it seems it help to clean the PC , it does lot of
stuff and the most important it is free. I read some of the software that supposly
are there to protect your PC from all kind of threats can cause you computer
to slow down.

My son will not allow me to have a computer without CCleaner (not that he has any control over whether I buy myself a computer).

Well Ccleaner is a smart and free software that clean your computer every so often or when you wish
to be done. It never harm your PC and actually it help it run faster.
