More pegboard added to the garage

Today we put up two metal pegboard panels in the garage and also bought a few hooks and containers to fit to the panels. Vince has already put up some of his tools. You can see them next to the workbench. In the centre of the photo at the top, you might be able to see a steel cable which goes right across the front of the garage. This is to hold the black cloth which Vince uses as a backdrop when he is taking portraiture photos. While he may not do a lot of portraits, at least, if he wants to, he’ll be able to have the background he likes.

You do feel like you've accomplished something when you do a bit each day and the list of jobs slowly becomes less or you start adding 'non-essentials' to the list.

@DaddyEvil We don't work all day. Vince is on a heap of FB photo sites and I myLot and we don't have the stamina we used to have. Sometimes, we even have a nap!!

its nice they laid the brick in with the indents for you!!! so organized! Sure you don't have room for 7-12 boxes?

The indents are nicely spaced for small storage benches and for pegboard. Definitely no spare room though.

@DocAndersen The indents are only in the garage area, not in the main house.

Part of the garage will be his 'studio' if he needs to take photos from time to time. Better that than the lounge!

@JudyEv I am not surprised you miss the open spaces and all the animals who visited. You will get used, it seems you have good neighbors.

@LadyDuck The residents here are all very friendly at the social occasions but they're not 'in your face' day to day. Unless you're out walking, you don't see them much. There is something on most days at the clubhouse.

Thanks for asking. It's okay but we do miss the open spaces and the birds and roos. I guess we'll get used to it all in time.

@JudyEv Sounds like you guys are getting things taken care of. There is a lot to do when one moves into a new or another place and to fix it up like you want takes lots of work.

When a house has never been lived in, then there is often not enough storage so that has been our main focus.

@Hannihar The oldest of the 150 units here are only about five years old. Ours was brand new. Our friends live here and when we visited them, we liked what we saw and decided to buy here. We looked through a display home the same as ours and had the plans to look at etc. The house did have some storage but we've added more and made the place more to our liking.

@JudyEv Do you have storage where you moved to? Also did you meet those that lived there before you and were they original owners and did they really tell you about the house or tell you what they thought you wanted to hear about it?

@CarolDM I guess I just meant I'm happier if things aren't too messy. I can stand a bit of mess but it can bother me if there is too much clutter.

I think in a small place it's even more important to keep things in the right places. I've decided I might be a bit OCD too.

Good for you guys. How did you hang the pegboards on the brick?

I think they're called anchor screws. You drill a hole with a masonry bit, insert a plastic 'plug' then screw into that. For the pegboard, you leave the screw a little out from the wall. The pegboard has slots at the back and these fit over the screws. I hope that makes sense.

We don't have anywhere else to work so if we need to make something we have to back the car out so we can get to the workbench and tools.

I love the brick wall, too! The problem is going to be if Vince puts too many tools in the garage and you don’t have room for the car!

To me, it's amazing what people remark on. Brick walls are standard here in most new houses although many are built of fibro too. The garage is barely big enough for the two cars so it's been a bit of a juggle getting everything in.

That's so true and already we have regretted selling/giving away a few items. We needed the bolt cutters yesterday to cut some steel cable but luckily the fencing pliers managed the job. However, I'm not sure why we kept them!
