All by myself!

For over a year now many people have been working from home due to the Covid pandemic. Even before this I was home-based anyway, and my partner was at home a couple of days a week, but for a while now we have been together practically all the time. Things are starting to get back to normal and he did have the option of going in to the office before this, but since most of the people he works with are actually in India anyway then it doesn’t really matter where he is based, so it was easier to keep working from home. Today though he has actually gone to the office to meet a couple of colleagues who will also be there. This required some late-night organisation of a change of clothes, cycling stuff etc. (he previously got into the routine of cycling to work, which is about 8 miles each way). Now I am all by myself in the house, which feels quite odd! Very peaceful but strange. And I have to be careful I don’t lose track of time! All rights reserved. © Text and image copyright Fleur 2021.

I worked with my husband during all my life, we lived together, worked together, we have lived every hour of our life together. The couple of times he was in hospital I was almost scared to be "home alone".

You are truly united in everything. How old were you when you married?

@LadyDuck That's awesome . I see people today( couples) get bored of living together for a long time, they seek space ..or i don't know what . I really admire couple who live together ,every hour and life , i agree its scary at times when such emergencies happen ..it shatters our world

Nothing changed much for me. I quite enjoy the solitude, well except for the various cats around!

I could do without the cats - our garden seems to be a Mecca for all the local cats. One of them does the rounds about four times a day.

@Fleura First of all lI love the flower in the picture. Do you mean not to lose track of time before dinner has to be prepared or is there another reason why you do not want to lose track of time?

You have been accustomed to your partner being at home all day,so you feel lonely all on your own.Cycling to work for 8 miles each way,he is an enormously energetic person !

I am sure as some begin to go back to their places of employment it will be a strange thing. I love the rose, such a beautiful color.

Yes it will take a little time to re-adjust I think, we have got used to 'the new normal'. I loved the rose too. It was growing in someone else's front garden, overhanging the wall, and I admired it as I went by.

Like me I'm always by myself in the house I lived because my daughters needs to accompany my mom to our new house and I can't be with them cause nobody will look after in this old house if I leave it.

It always feels odd for me to be alone in our apartment also. Wow, 8 miles is a long way to bike and that's just one way.

It's not that far, it takes 30 to 40 minutes. Many times it's quicker than driving due to the congestion.

Routine makes us get so used to things that when it changes we feel out of place, a lot usually happens to me.
